Country and State:
I'm working with the interior on a private basis. Taking pictures yet with my mobile phone. I have always been interested in an interior but was when I started my IG account that I really made it to the hobby I practice today. My interior style is eclectic I would say. I prefer to create a style that appeals to the feelings. I'm not educated in an interior. Just learning by doing. When I create I see everything like a picture and compose from that point of view. The eclectic style came forward as a result of the fact that I took care of some of my grandparent's furniture. My grandfather made some of the furniture for my grandma. I couldn't just throw this away. That made me thinking different and creativity of how to make this fit into a more modern living. My way to solve this was to make exciting combinations of the old furniture, adding some new things and treasures. I love to combine different textures and looks at something that I believe will work as a personal expression. I do hope that I someday will be able to use my interior interest to make a little outcome out of it. Maybe I'm on the way as I was asked by a firm selling notebook to use my account advertising their products.
I can take pictures of the products nicely styled into my interior.
Moreover, I can be a consultant for others in styling houses for sale or private styling.
Our readers would love to get to know you more Mona. Tell us about yourself, what is unique about you, your brand or the services you offer?
I'm 51 years now. Have four children and three grandchildren and love them all. I live in the countryside in Norway in a house that my grandpa build in the 50' s.
Mona, what are your passion and aspiration in life? How did you start as a Home decorator?
I started when I took care of my grandparent's furniture. I like the thought of using things in new ways. It's too much use and throws away in our society. I love thrift markets and stores where you can find treasures that have been used.
Who is your inspiration in life Mona? How do you stay inspired as the Home decorator?
I stay inspired by other IG friends or other friends that have a passion for the eclectic interior. I also use Pinterest and magazines for inspiration. I also get very inspired when I make a good thrift. That can make me redecorating or even paint a wall to make a new impression.
We all make mistakes Mona, we wish we could take back. What was the mistake you made in the past that you wish you can take back?
Oh. My latest mistake was using chalk paint in the kitchen above the sink without doing the proper sealing. I think I have to repaint some areas and then do a top coat that makes the water peeling off.
Mona, How do you describe yourself in terms of working with clients?
I think I manage as I'm working with people on daily basis. My motto is to be kind. It'works.
Please tell us, Mona, how do you prioritise work, social life, friends, and family?
I prioritise family first of course, as I still have children at home who are activin sports, with friends, go to school, but it's important to have a work you like and friends to laugh with. I try to combine that.
Mona, please give us an example of a time when you were able to successfully persuade someone to see things your way at work.
It was when I was a finalist at a Norwegian interior award. That was a great experience and a way of knowing my work is doing well.
Mona, please tell us about your proudest professional accomplishment as a.
The interior award.
Mona, please give us an example of a time you were able to be creative with your work. What was exciting or difficult about it?
It's exciting when people appreciate my work and especially when I'm contacted by journalists and photographers who want to visit my home to make interviews and photos. It's so fun but also very exhausting when the whole house has to be styled and prepared all at the same time. But it is worth it.
What advice would you give to the people who want to be successful as a Home decorator?
It's important to make your own style and be authentic. Do what is right and feels right for you. It' s not a goal to be like everybody else. Make your own way.
