USA NORTH CAROLINA
Recognized for his use of bright, bold patterns and colours in home décor, Don Ricardo Massenburg Jr. seeks to show that although interior design is considered a luxury service, it can be attainable to everyone. His love for art, music, furniture, and anything bold and creative fuels his passion for interior design. It has been a lasting dream of Don Ricardo’s to do something that he loves and enjoys so much that it doesn’t feel like he’s working, and Don Ricardo believes that he has experienced that dream with interior design.
Don Ricardo received a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education from North Carolina Central University and started his first interior design venture while he served as a teacher. Some of his most initial and favourite projects were children’s spaces where he enjoyed pulling bright, vibrant colours together, along with fun patterns. Ricardo continues to work in the field of education by day and acknowledges the value of the transferable skills gained through his experiences.
The growth of DESiGN iNKREDiBLE LLC has been so exciting, and through his, work Ricardo has developed other gifts and talents such as sewing, upholstery, and creating abstract art. Don Ricardo recognises that although the style and a good design eye are important, it takes much more to maintain a successful interior design business and he is currently continuing education in interior design.
Our readers would love to get to know you more Don Ricardo. Tell us about yourself, what is unique about you, your brand or the services you offer?

Don Ricardo, what are your passion and aspiration in life? How did you start as an Interior designer?
My goal is to continue to do something that I love and enjoy and inspire others to follow their dreams and work in their passion.
Who is your inspiration in life Don Ricardo? How do you stay inspired as an Interior designer?
I look to nature for colour inspiration. I am also inspired by art.
We all make mistakes Don Ricardo, we wish we could take back. What was the error you made in the past that you wish you can take back?
I wish I had started work to pursue my interior design career years earlier than I did. Entrepreneurship is much work, and it takes years to create a platform.
Don Ricardo, How do you describe yourself regarding working with clients?
Although DESiGN iNKREDiBLE LLC is known for the use of vibrant colours and the creative mixture of bold patterns and textures, we recognise that each project is an expression of the client’s unique personality. We welcome our client’s ideas and artistic preferences and consider them essential when creating personalised spaces tailored to satisfy their desires.
Please tell us Don Ricardo , how do you prioritise work, social life, friends, and family?
It has been a real blessing that my family and friends have supported my design ventures by donating their time to my work. My most valuable team members are my family and friends.
Don Ricardo , please give us an example of a time when you were able to persuade someone to see things your way at work successfully.
This happens most frequently with furniture placement. My goal is to help clients maximize their space while also considering functionality and aesthetics. I recently worked with a client who purchased a 4 piece furniture set which was so large that it overcrowded her space. I was able to show her that editing some of the pieces of the sofa set would create a more open and easily accessible space for her family to live and use together.
Don Ricardo please tell us about your proudest professional accomplishment as a.
I have worked with amazing clients including celebrities and professional athletes. My work has also been featured by several major retailers. One of my proudest moments is when my mother and several other friends and family members began to call me as they picked up copies of a magazine and news article which had me and my work on the cover.
Don Ricardo , please give us an example of a time you were able to be creative with your work. What was exciting or difficult about it?
The most fun and creative projects have been kid's spaces! When a child is my client, I know that colour is going to be a key factor and it has to be bright and fun. Mixing patterns and colours for a youth project is exciting each and every time. It may be a surprise but my kid clients are easiest to work with because they always know exactly what they want. They have their favourite colours in mind and they express it from the beginning! “I want pink and purple.”
What advice would you give to the people who want to be successful as an Interior designer?
Find a local community college or university that offers interior design courses and take some classes to build a foundation.
