It's a pleasure to have the opportunity to express my passion for acting & directing through your magazine. I have been working in entertainment for almost 20 years with the pleasure of being both in front and behind the camera. I have studied acting and directing at the School of Cinema in Rome. This has given me the insight to understand the client's needs better and interpret their vision, whether it is as an actor playing the role of the brand ambassador or as a creative director designing and filming a new campaign. Plus my love for cinema and particularly my good sense of timing, adds that natural performance to comedy roles.
Yuri, what are your passion and aspiration in life? How did you start as Actor?
I am an actor/director with a passion for poetry and photography. I had my first book published in Italy in 2008, " My Life on a cactus" ( 32 poems and a monologue of the theatre). I started acting when I was 18 in an amateur theatre production in a little town in South Italy, Puglia. From there, I realized that one of my aspirations in life was always to do what makes both myself and other people feel good and happy. This mindset has helped me a lot through the years as well as others.
Who is your inspiration in life Yuri? How do you stay inspired as an Actor?
My inspirations in life are my mum and my sister. I have been really lucky to have them. Talking to them when there is a low or listening to their points of view has helped me a lot throughout my career. Another part of my inspiration comes from books and films from the past.
We all make mistakes Yuri; we wish we could take back. What was the mistake you made in the past that you wish you can take back?
Oh yes we do, and I make a lot of mistakes, but actually, none that I want to take back as they have helped me to get here.
Yuri, How do you describe yourself in terms of working with clients?
Precise and attentive with boundless enthusiasm
Please tell us, Yuri, how do you prioritize work, social life, friends, and family?
Family and friends first ( can sound obvious but it's not in today's environment), then work and social life ( kind of goes a bit together nowadays Lol.
Yuri, please give us an example of a time when you were able to persuade someone to see things your way at work successfully.
I participated in a competition to become the new worldwide ambassador for Martini Brand. From 5000 people I made it through to the finals in Milan. That day there were only 32 people left, and I had to perform at my best ( even though fears were there, and the competition was high). At that moment before the take, you remember where you come from and what brought you there, and suddenly you are in ... I was the new worldwide ambassador for Martini for 2 years.
Yuri, please tell us about your proudest professional accomplishment as an Actor.
I am really happy to have been the worldwide ambassador for Martini and have a role in Paul Feig's movie "Spy" alongside Melissa Mccarthy and Rosie Byrne.
Yuri, please give us an example of a time you were able to be creative with your work. What was exciting or difficult about it?
I am really lucky with my work, as I get creative almost every-time I walk on set, as an actor or as a director. A really exciting moment was when I had to improvise lines on set with Melissa Mccarthy and Rosie Byrne for the movie Spy. You are there with two Hollywood stars improvising comedy, which is all about timing, and you are thinking ... omg enter now ... and eventually, that line works, and the director is happy, and it's a cut " well done" ...
What advice would you give to the people who want to be successful as an Actor?
Always be yourself, understand your value, and promote that. Ever think what brought you there, where are you coming from and where you are going. Breathe, listen, and say the lines ...
