Since I was young, I love to create, it begins with crazy ideas, and it would end up in something wonderful. From there I realised that I could create more artsy things, so I keep creating more and more things including photo artwork. All I can say day by day I found myself creative and more creative after all try and error. Now I know, this is whats best of me that I can deliver to the world.
Vin, what are your passion and aspiration in life? How did you start as a Creative Director?
After all, things that I've created, I started to gather a team. A creative team which consist a member of, photographer, stylist, make up artist, model and the setup crew. From my crazy imagination, I started to sketch it on paper, brought the ideas in our team meetings until one day we decided to run a test shoot. The result of the test shoot was unbelievable, I started to receive compliments, motivations, I was featured in few online webtorials, pages and I am enjoying my passion as an art director. My clients, my friends and the networking that I managed to build, keep asking me to create and direct more artistic artwork and most of them are willing to work with me in our next future projects.
Who is your inspiration in life Vin? How do you keep inspired?
A lot, actually I inspire all people with the sense of art. I love artsy people
We all make mistakes Vin; we wish we could take back. Please tell us about time being a Creative Director; you wish you’d handled a situation differently with a colleague.
I wish I had the chance to work with more great people. My mistakes last time is in very shy to open up and ask for a good collaboration with experienced people until one day I started to approach the right people and create such amazing network in this industry
Vin, when you’re working with a large number of clients, it’s tricky to deliver excellent service to them all. As a Creative Director, how do you go about prioritising your clients’ needs?
It's true, and because of that, I organised myself with proper records. Clients are based on first come first served; it also depends on how big and urgent the job is, usually I will ask the client to choose which slot that I am available. The project will be run based on availabilities, I have one big team which very skilful at their task in order to deliver client needs, for example, our retoucher. Her task is to complete whatever required by our according to deadlines, so far I have no problems in handling and delivering artwork to our clients. I do admit there are difficulties sometimes, but we manage to get things in order after all improvement from our past mistakes and weaknesses
Please tell us, Vin, about a time you had to be very strategic in order to meet all your top priorities as a Creative Director?
I have to be very honest that being an art director; there is no specific time that I cannot be strategic unless if it's beyond by working time or during my free time, I enjoyed most of my time creating and directing my ideas. It feels like choreographing and blending soft and silky material into one great moving and rhythmic art
Vin, please give us an example of a time when you were able to persuade someone to see things your way at work successfully.
When I met a few clients with no sense of art and didn't have any idea of what they want and how they want it to be. They found us and gave us the whole scenario, but during the project or session, they tried to overtake our lead. And when the result turns out to be bad, we need to re-run the whole thing back.
Vin, please tell us about your proudest professional accomplishment as a Creative Director. There might be many, but there is always this proudest moment that you want to share with everyone. What is it and why?
One of my artwork and editorial have been featured in few famous magazines and editorial magazines and credited by professional clients back in the year 2013 / 2014
Vin, please give us an example of a time you were able to be creative with your work. What was exciting or difficult about it?
When I see something that interests me during my research or discussions, once I imagine things in mind, that's the time I started to imagine the whole concept and ideas. The most difficult part is when sometimes I had to deal with unexpected personal problems, pressure from people who have no idea and don't understand what we were doing and how to make explain them especially tough clients and a very limited time for the bigger task.
What advice would you give to the people who want to be successful as a Creative Director?
Be patient, never limit yourself to express whats inside your mind even though it may look insane or ridiculous, but trust me, being an artistic people, everything is unpredictable. Nothing is firm. It's all creativity and the beauty that you can put it in anything you directed. Good luck!
