VASILIKI. Tell us ABOUT yourself.
I am the creative soul of the upcoming brand MISS POLYPLEXI. I am a restless spirit with lots of creativity inside that finally found peacefulness in the design & creation of MISS POLYPLEXI handknitted bags!
Our readers would love to get to know you more VASILIKI. Tell us about yourself, what is unique about you?
I originally come from Greece which is the country I grew up, and I currently live. I travelled a lot to various international destinations, and I had also lived in some European countries, however, Greece is - in some way - “magical” and kind of “brought” me back. The lovely sun, the rich culture, the beautiful places & islands are a great inspiration for me. Of course, my family lives here, and I am quite emotionally attached to them.
Unique is my handmade bags that I design & knit myself. There is no bag that resembles one another even if I try to replicate the same model. This is the norm of handmade creation, and this is also the beauty of it.
VASILIKI, what are your passion and aspiration in life? How did you start as a Fashion Label?
I am passionate about creativity in general; I cannot live without being able to express it. Otherwise, I feel imprisoned. My aspiration is to grow one day the MISS POLYPLEXI brand and have my handmade bags featured in the most known Fashion Shows internationally. It is a great aspiration, but having the vision to drive my work and efforts is what keeps me going.
Knitting has been and will still be my hobby as it is something I love so much doing. This is how I like to consider it - even if it took more of a professional dimension. The starting point though of this whole idea was when I decided to share this passion I have with you all. This is how the MISS POLYPLEXI brand of handknitted bags was born. Why bags? A woman’s bag is something very special to her. Women cannot live without bags; it’s their ultimate accessory that completes & elevates their outfit. In parallel, bags have a practical dimension as they carry for us everything that somebody can imagine which we cannot live without!
Who is your inspiration in life VASILIKI? How do you keep inspired?
The characteristics of my personality are my “special” mum’s “heritage” whom I still remember – since I was a little – to knit anything you can imagine (jumpers, cardigans, skirts, dresses, etc.). How was it ever possible having such a talented mum not to learn how to knit me? She was the one who made me love and appreciates the value of handknitted creations as well as all the hard work hidden behind them. Since then, she has been my inspirational muse.
We all make mistakes VASILIKI; we wish we could take back. Please tell us about time being a Fashion Label; you wish you’d handled a situation differently with a colleague.
To be honest, I haven’t had many colleagues so far as it was not necessary. I’ve had many people that I collaborated with, but there wasn’t any situation I wish I had handled differently. So far, so good.
VASILIKI, when you’re working with a large number of clients, it’s tricky to deliver excellent service to them all. As a Fashion Label, how do you go about prioritising your clients’ needs?
I would never jeopardise the service excellence I offer to my clients as this is how I would expect to be treated if I was a client. This can be achieved by being honest to them upfront regarding the time I will be able to deliver their order. In the meantime, I always keep them up-to-date with the progress of the work so that they feel we are together on the journey of the creation of their handmade bag.
Please tell us VASILIKI, about a time you had to be very strategic to meet all your top priorities as a Fashion Label?
Not long ago, I had to deliver an order for a boutique in Mykonos (very famous Greek island) so that the shop had the bags on time for the summer season. My main supplier of yarns though had a lack of a specific colour I needed to finish off the order. There was no option for me to wait for the specific yarn to be back in stock as it would have taken quite long. Thus, I talked to the owner of the boutique explaining the situation. Finally, I convinced her to trust me and modify the order to deliver a new model of a bag I had made at that time (but she hadn’t seen) which I knew it would be a hit and it would sell no doubt!
VASILIKI, please give us an example of a time when you were able to successfully persuade someone to see things your way at work.
Usually, it is not difficult for me to persuade someone to see things my way at work as the quality of MISS POLYPLEXI handknitted bags speaks for itself. Most of the sales I make are via Facebook and Instagram anyway, which means people can even recognise & trust the quality of my work from the pics they see. The greatest reward though comes when they receive the bags, and they send me so lovely messages to thank me and tell me how much they love them.
VASILIKI, please tell us about your proudest professional accomplishment as a Fashion Label. There might be many, but there is always this proudest moment that you just want to share with everyone. What is it and why?
My proudest accomplishment is the everyday appreciation I get from women who contact me either to express their admiration for MISS POLYPLEXI handknitted bags or to order one and proudly carry it. I have lots of them that send me pictures with their bag and their lovely outfits. This is what I am mostly proud of – when I receive my clients’ love. This makes me even stronger to keep going.
VASILIKI, please give us an example of a time you were able to be creative with your work. What was exciting or difficult about it?
My work is mainly based on creativity! I am always creative with my work as I design and knit unique bags for each woman based on her preferences.
Being a woman myself, I would love to feel unique & special carrying my very own & unique handknitted MISS POLYPLEXI bag. This is exactly how I would like all women to feel, hence why every woman can choose a bag to be made especially for her. Whatever the difficulties this may involve, they are all raised thanks to the passion I have for what I am doing. I love hearing every woman’s need that she would like to carry her unique MISS POLYPLEXI handknitted bag. This intrigues & inspires me even more as not only I can design & create my collection – from which many women also choose – but also have the chance to create unique pieces that I am proud to know they are somebody’s personal choices.
What advice would you give to the people who want to be successful as a Fashion Label?
To always “fight” for your dream, never give up even if difficult times come as this is normal. Everything can be overcome with hard work and passion for what you do.
Are you looking for collaboration with fashion talents, brands and creatives? If yes, please state below what type of collaboration you are looking for?
Of course, I do! I strongly believe that we evolve as human beings when we meet new people, collaborate, share views and achieve results. It would be great to get in touch with models, photographers, Fashion Stylists and Fashion Editors.
