Our readers would love to get to know you more Trista. Tell us about yourself, what is unique about you?
I love making clothing that makes women feel romantic and feminine. I use reclaimed fabrics that are often vintage, and I feel tell a story. I think of it as my tribute to the grandmas who kept those vintage tablecloths and lace curtains in lovely condition. Instead of leaving them to rot in a landfill I give them a brand new life.
Trista, what are your passion and aspiration in life? How did you start as a Designer?
I was a nurse for ten years which I loved. Designing dresses make me so happy right now, so I'll do that until it doesn't.
Who is your inspiration in life Trista? How do you keep inspired?
I'm inspired by real-life women who are brave and free and present every day.
We all make mistakes Trista; we wish we could take back. Please tell us about time being a Designer; you wish you’d handled a situation differently with a colleague.
I work alone and haven't had any binders with colleagues but perhaps the time my three-year-old got hold of my scissors and cut a huge hole in a wedding dress for fashion week....
Trista, when you’re working with a large number of clients, it’s tricky to deliver excellent service to them all. As a Designer, how do you go about prioritizing your clients’ needs?
I meet personally with as many clients as possible, and we visit and establish a relationship. Online when I sell pieces, I try hard to make it as personal as possible
Please tell us, Trista , about a time you had to be very strategic to meet all your top priorities as a Designer?
Every day is a challenge working around three kids a husband and a dog. My strategy does as much as I can in ten-minute increments
Trista, please give us an example of a time when you were able to persuade someone to see things your way at work successfully.
It's another day I persuaded my six-year-old to sweep my studio by bribing her with candy.
Trista, please tell us about your proudest professional accomplishment as a Designer. There might be many, but there is always this proudest moment that you just want to share with everyone. What is it and why?
I'm doing Vancouver fashion week in September.
Trista, please give us an example of a time you were able to be creative with your work. What was exciting or difficult about it?
I'm creative every day creating new designs from tablecloths and curtains.
What advice would you give to the people who want to be successful as a Designer?
Just do it. Believe in yourself. Meditate at night on your creativity and live in the moment
Are you looking for collaboration with fashion talents, brands and creatives? If yes, please state what type of collaboration you are looking for?
Always! Any kind that's fun!
