Well, I lived quite a life! I had a dream, and I followed it! It brought me to LA about three years ago and ever since I have been exploring and working towards it. Dreams are funny sometimes in the way they lead us. I found myself not only wanting to do hair/make up on set, but I wanted to be one of the models/actresses. I found I loved putting it out there, singing, dancing, being goofy beautiful me. I didn't always have this confidence, growing up as a bigger girl I didn't always see the beauty in myself. So I began to work on me, inside and out. I read books, went to classes and did a lot of self reflection for my inside. And lost a total of 90 pounds working on my outside. Working and building a healthy me, shortly became a way of life opposed to a distant thought like it had been in the past. Now I hope to inspire others around me to go after a healthy mindset, lifestyle and dreams.
Taylor, what are your passion and aspiration in life? How did you start as Model?
My passions, go anywhere from being a good person to learning the next skill. I love to be with people and help them find there purpose, dream, their confidence or their voice. I'm passionate about finding a platform in life that can help me in building people up and helping them with different needs and finding their beauty. My biggest aspiration in life is to make a difference. Not just in my life, but in my family's, friends and new friends I haven't met yet. I started as a model after doing another models hair/make up for a shoot for a clothing line. After the shoot, the photographer had congratulated me on my work, as well as me his. And he asked if I was a model and wanted to shoot. And from there it lit up a whole different world of opportunities.
Who is your inspiration in life Taylor? How do you stay inspired as a Model?
My inspiration in life is others. It's watching people become themselves, and find their happiness. My Nana, being one of the most influential women in my life has given me the power of seeing the beauty in all things. And to see inspiration in even the smallest things, like a blooming flower, or walk in the park. To be inspired by the world around you to spark interests and see things differently. I use the world, and it's many colors, nature, and signs it offers to keep me inspired. It's all around sometimes you have to open your eyes.
We all make mistakes Taylor; we wish we could take back. What was the mistake you made in the past that you wish you can take back?
I wish I would have gotten sooner. There's nothing worse than saying oh äóìI'll do it tommorowäó. At this point in my life, tomorrows are coming too soon. Never regret my mistakes, but take pride in the lesson learned and that I can better myself from there.
Taylor, How do you describe yourself in terms of working with clients?
Easy, fun, upbeat, approachable and hard working. Make sure that I always treat others with respect, care- listen to their ideas, thoughts/concerns and feedback. Realising that we are all a team, and working together is the best way to achieve greatness. And everyone's opinion matters, and finding the balance between.
Please tell us, Taylor, how do you prioritise work, social life, friends, and family?
I make sure that there is a healthy amount of all three in my life. In this day and age with cell phones, email, and the Internet it makes it easy on us. Sending little texts of love and admiration to my family and friends to let them know how much I'm missing care for them. Even though life is crazy busy, it's always important to let others know how important and loved they are. And even though work is stressful sometimes, it's always important to realise that having a social life, and a healthy relationship with your friends/ family keeps life balance. And if I ever feel a heaviness, and the lack of balance in my life, I make sure to take time for myself outside of work to spend with my friends and family.
Taylor, please give us an example of a time when you were able to persuade someone to see things your way at work successfully.
I could say that I do that almost every day and hair styling. It's very important to look at a client, work with a client on their best features and how to bring that out. So some clients need a little persuading when it comes to deciding on the best look for them — suggesting to go a line opposed to a blunt haircut, due to face shape, or suggesting a warmer highlight opposed to a cooler tone. Are all examples of how I may have persuaded a client towards their best look.
Taylor, please tell us about your proudest professional accomplishment as a Model.
My iPad is a professional accomplishment as a model, was when I got my first runway cast, for a clothing swimwear line. I never thought I would be modelling swimwear, nonetheless walking down a runway in it. It was all so surreal.
Taylor, please give us an example of a time you were able to be creative with your work. What was exciting or difficult about it?
Being creative is never difficult, especially when you are always outside of the box. Being creative is something I enjoy and have enjoyed since I was little. I was always drawing, painting, or re-inventing things. I am creative every day in my work, whether it be from designing a 70s inspired cat I, on a client, or acting like an 80s babe for an upcoming role.
What advice would you give to the people who want to be successful as a Model?
My advice is to go for it. Read different blogs, and soak up as much information from other models as you can. Listen to their stories and their journeys. Make sure you always protect yourself and research photographers, that you go to work with and study other models, and pictures to beSt Build your brand. This will give you the best idea of what kind of modelling you want to get into, and the style of the model you want to be whether it be editorial, print, fashion Etc. And always believe in yourself, it starts there.
