I am a cosmetology student and professional braider. I will be license next spring. What's unique about me is I am my glam squad, and I'm not your average model. I'm only 5 feet which are nowhere near the average height of today's models. However, I do have long legs which makes me appear taller when photographed. I do my hair and make up for my shoots, and I'm pretty good. There's always room for improvement, so I'm always open to criticism and opinions.
Taylor, what are your passion and aspiration in life? How did you start as Model?
I travel and take my pictures. A local photographer reached out to me and asked me to come in for a photo shoot dressed as I would on an average day because he liked my style. We did two outfit changes, and the photographs came out amazing.
Who is your inspiration in life Taylor? How do you stay inspired as a Model?
You know I've wanted this for a long time. Women like Donyale Luna, Iman, Naomi Campbell have inspired me my entire life. Women like Karrueche help me identify with my body type and size and realise that I too can model despite the differences the industry usually requires.
We all make mistakes Taylor; we wish we could take back. What was the mistake you made in the past that you wish you can take back?
The only mistake I think I've made is not pursuing my dreams as a licensed cosmetologist earlier. It's never too late to get started tho.
Taylor, How do you describe yourself in terms of working with clients?
I am not very talkative, but I am good at taking direction and giving feedback as well as accepting it.
Please tell us, Taylor, how do you prioritise work, social life, friends, and family?
Work and school always come first for me. But I always make time for my family and friends because they have supported and pushed me to get this far.
Taylor, please give us an example of a time when you were able to persuade someone to see things your way at work successfully.
I feel like the best way to persuade is to convince someone why they need this or why it's beneficial to the overall cause. It's always best to work smart and not hard. So I showed my coworkers a faster way to close down the store without making any mistakes. Prioritising difficult tasks from easier tasks was the go-to — less chaos by the end of the business day and a more productive environment.
Taylor, please tell us about your proudest professional accomplishment as a Model.
My pride at the moment is honestly my first professional shoot in general. Someone saw something in me and gave me a shot. I am forever grateful.
Taylor, please give us an example of a time you were able to be creative with your work. What was exciting or difficult about it?
I did a photo shoot where I was solely responsible for my look. I got to do my hair and makeup and dress. It was tons of fun.
What advice would you give to the people who want to be successful as a Model?
Be passionate and a go-getter. Social media is your friend and work as often as you can.
