I'm from Korea, and I specialise in Oriental Painting when I am going to University in Korea. Follow my background; I naturally design with oriental mood. It makes my collection to be more unique, creative and different from others.
Suyeon, what are your passion and aspiration in life? How did you start as a Designer?
My last goal is seeing many people wearing my cloth on the street. I think fashion is daily life and the way how you express yourself to the world. I graduated F.I.T in may and just started my brand line.
Who is your inspiration in life Suyeon? How do you keep inspired?
I always inspired by the creative person who gives a powerful impact on me. Being creative is a hard thing for being a distinctive design, so I always see how other people feel and live. That means I get inspirations from the unique things that come from different approaches to various materials, whether it’s through architecture, painting, sculpture, or nature
We all make mistakes Suyeon; we wish we could take back. Please tell us about time being a Designer; you wish you’d handled a situation differently with a colleague.
No, I'm doing well.
Suyeon, when you’re working with a large number of clients, it’s tricky to deliver excellent service to them all. As a Designer, how do you go about prioritising your clients’ needs?
I just launched my brand so only hope to have a large number of clients.
Please tell us Suyeon, about a time you had to be very strategic in order to meet all your top priorities as a Designer?
Yes. The entire industry runs by promise. Keeping deadline is the most important thing among designer, client and manufacturer.
Suyeon, please give us an example of a time when you were able to persuade someone to see things your way at work successfully.
Suyeon, please tell us about your proudest professional accomplishment as a Designer. There might be many, but there is always this proudest moment that you want to share with everyone. What is it and why?
Suyeon, please give us an example of a time you were able to be creative with your work. What was exciting or difficult about it?
When I was a junior, I participated in a fusion fashion show which is competition show between selected students from Parsons and F.I.T. It was my first fashion show and wanted to define me as a creative, talented young designer. So I used a lot of extra-ordinary fabrics with experimental fabric manipulations. The most difficult thing was taking laser-cut on synthetic fabrics. Since synthetic fabrics tend to melt down when getting high temperature, I had to look in every nook and cranny. However, I was the best designer of F.I.T through hardships.
What advice would you give to the people who want to be successful as a Designer?
Are you looking for collaboration with fashion talents, brands and creatives? If yes, please state below what type of collaboration you are looking for?
Yes, I'm looking for an accessory designer, jewellery designer, beauty or magazines to expose SU.YEON DNA more widely.
