I am a fitness model who was born obese. I fought my way to getting this ideal physique, and I use modelling as a platform to inspire hope.
Steven, what are your passion and aspiration in life? How did you start as a Model?
As a model, I started out with auditioning to be picked up as a model by a model training agency. At the time all I had was my interest in modeling, and when I got picked up, I swore to use the platform to inspire youths to never give up in whatever path they choose to follow. As a model, I am looking forward to the day I'll be doing big shows in the world. I might be young in the modelling industry but trust me I'm coming to take over international runways and magazines.
Who is your inspiration in life Steven? How do you keep inspired?
I get my inspiration from nature and Barack Obama's life. To see how nature adapts and thrive inspires me that I can do anything I put my mind into.
We all make mistakes Steven; we wish we could take back. Please tell us about time being a Model; you wish you’d handled a situation differently with a colleague.
During my second runway, I was to showcase some designs by this designer. That day I was so tensed up, and the designer was a little frustrating. So that day just on the backstage he kept making me wear various clothes, and I got annoyed and harshly talked to him. Well just after that I wished I could have taken back my word and understand that he was just as anxious as I was.
Steven, when you’re working with a large number of clients, it’s tricky to deliver excellent service to them all. As a Model, how do you go about prioritising your clients’ needs?
As a model priority is always key. When prioritising my clients, I usually focus on these three key areas. Is the job I'm going to do earn me the right exposure I need to grow. I'm I going to be paid according to a plan by the client. And lastly, does the client have a clean sheet of record as concerns his/her previous interactions with other models of firms? After considering these 3, I'll set priorities
Please tell us, Steven, about a time you had to be very strategic in order to meet all your top priorities as a Model?
There was this time early this year I was called in to do two different shows on the weekend, and both shows had good exposure and paid. So on that weekend, I decided that I am going to do both of the shows and so on Saturday I finished my first show and travelled just in time to do this second show. And that experience was thrilling.
Steven, please give us an example of a time when you were able to persuade someone to see things your way at work successfully.
Well, there was a time late last month that we were shooting this conceptual shoot with a photographer with the theme of the shoot being Lucifer's Dream. The photographer at the time wanted it to be an outdoor shoot, but considering the theme I managed to convince him to do an indoor shoot with dark, dramatic lighting and set up
Steven, please tell us about your proudest professional accomplishment as a Model. There might be many, but there is always this proudest moment that you want to share with everyone. What is it and why?
Doing my first high fashion show at the Michael Joseph Center an ECO Fashion event has always been my greatest achievement. I was the closing model for an accessory designer too. This moment has always been my best since I practised a lot, for three months actually before I could be chosen to be among the models to participate in the show.
Steven, please give us an example of a time you were able to be creative with your work. What was exciting or difficult about it?
With my work, I've always been creative. I had incorporated body art once when we were shooting for an editorial suit collection, the resulting photos from that shoot were nothing short of amazing.
What advice would you give to the people who want to be successful as a Model?
As a model, you have to follow only these three principles which will take you anywhere in this industry. HUMILITY, DISCIPLINE AND HARD WORK
Are you looking for collaboration with fashion talents, brands and creatives? If yes, please state below what type of collaboration you are looking for?
Definitely yes. Collaborations with brands to do editorial modelling for them, brands that could use a fitness model are also welcome. I am also looking for runway shows for any shows and runway types.
