No pay. Modeling brings income. I do all this because it's my passion.
Hello! I'm Smiley from Alaska, but I have lived in all 50 states and Canada! I was raised homeless, then as a gypsy, and I love my parents for it. I've seen so many amazing things! As well as equally heartbreaking things. I've been through trials that would completely break someone, and it has. Now I live a simple, happy, family life as a model/actress/photographer. My children and sweetheart are my air. I have absolutely fallen in love with living this life, we never know how much time we have. I live in the moment, I live for today, I am a survivor. I try to bring others joy to my page. Life itself is a miracle, we should treasure each other. My life dream is to live happy with my family in a simple home with lots of animals, going on vacations and experiencing every inch of this gorgeous world.

Our readers would love to get to know you more Smiley Shylee. Tell us about yourself, what is unique about you?
The places I've been and the things I've seen make me unique. I was raised with absolutely nothing. No television, no new clothes, no friends, and sometimes no food. But we were ALWAYS happy. We always had each other. My view of the world is very different from anyone else's. I do not conform, I don't have anything that holds me back, I will always do exactly what makes my family and I happy. I believe more love is needed today. People obsess and argue about things that are meaningless in my eyes. Earth is to be enjoyed, loved, experienced, photographed. People are to be loved, helped, cherished, kind. If we could all put down our weapons and open our hearts, how different would life be for everyone? It would seem perfect. That's the way I live. I live like everyone I see is my family, everyone I talk to is my brother, sister because they are. We are all connected.
Smiley Shylee, what are your passion and aspiration in life? How did you start as a Creative Director?
I began with a divorce. I began with no self-esteem. I began with no money, no help, just me. I began acting to help a friend who was a crew member of Gumby acting. I was featured on the TV show Blood and Oil and had the pleasure of working with Don Johnson and Amber Valletta. Little did I know I would be working with them when I started. After that, crewmembers told me that they needed me in some upcoming television series. I then delved into modeling after my friend told me that she did not think she was beautiful enough to model. I went with her as a friend, and I left as a signed model. I managed myself and began managing a modeling agency called Love Yourself. I would take women, free of charge, and make them a model for a day. These women had scars, stretch marks, burn victims, women with low self-esteem that needed to be lifted up. They reminded me of myself. They got to keep the prints. I then began doing paid work for stores in the mall, Budweiser, abstract photography. One of my friends then asked me to sing a hook for his song. He was a rapper, and our song was recorded professionally. After that, I had a lot more independent artists ask me to collaborate with them. I continue to do all of these things, but I live a very simple life in a very simple town. My family means everything to me. I now manage multiple Instagram pages and continue to do paid work in modeling.
Who is your inspiration in life Smiley Shylee? How do you keep inspired?
My son and daughter are both my inspiration. My son is biologically mine, my daughter is not. Blood has never been a factor for me, she is my daughter. Her mother left when she was small, for the sake of getting high. My son's father left for the sake of cheating. I have put my whole heart and soul into these kids. They did not deserve what my ex-husband did by leaving my son, or what her mother did to a precious little girl. My sweetheart and I have given them a happy stable life that we are both very proud of. They are both so strong, both have been through things that they should not have been through. They remind me of myself when I was young. Life really does give you what you put out. So every day I put out happiness.
We all make mistakes Smiley Shylee, we wish we could take back. Please tell us about a time being a Creative Director, you wish you’d handled a situation differently with a colleague.
I do not regret or wish to take back any mistakes I have made in my life. Every mistake I made has taught me a lesson that made me a better person. I know that is cliché, but there is a reason why it is cliché. I avoid contention like the plague. I will always be the first to apologize, even if there is no apology needed on my end. I am not saying that makes me perfect, in fact, I am most likely at fault for not speaking my mind or responding. But the way I view life is not the same. Most of the stuff we argue about today is useless. In fact, there is no need for arguing ever. I communicate everything I feel.
Smiley Shylee, when you’re working with a large number of clients, it’s tricky to deliver excellent service to them all. As a Creative Director, how do you go about prioritizing your clients’ needs?
No one likes to be kept waiting. I put the person at the top of my list as a priority. Then when our business is finished, the next person is my priority. I believe in being honest with each other. If it is going to take me more time to edit my proofs, to cut a video, I immediately let them know. Other than being a mommy, directing creativity is what I do. I usually have enough time to get everything done that I need. To me, it never feels like a job or a chore. It feels like fun.
Please tell us Smiley Shylee, about a time you had to be very strategic in order to meet all your top priorities as a Creative Director?
I am always doing far too many things in one day then I possibly can. But I love it! If I have to model for a company or a client, and they need a specific look, then I will do exactly what they say perfectly. Immediately after a photo shoot, I will go to my next client in the same wardrobe, makeup, hair, that I was in, to make sure that I make it on time. I have photographed a family photo in a Harley Quinn outfit. The way I see it, if people notice that you truly care, then they will truly care too, and it will be this glorious, harmonious, peaceful gathering between everybody. Everybody will be happy, everybody will be having fun.
Smiley Shylee, please give us an example of a time when you were able to successfully persuade someone to see things your way at work.
Communication means everything to me. I am not a mind reader, I can pick up on your vibes but if you don't communicate with me then it's much more difficult. I believe in always approaching with kindness, no matter what. People will be more open-minded to you if you are kind to them. If people feel like they can trust you, then they will listen to you. I usually don't have to persuade anybody in the workplace, however, I have had to tell one of my photographers the way I like my editing done. I am very particular, I believe that details make magic happen. I had a photographer disagree with the way he wanted the editing done for the proofs. Instead of getting defensive, I drove to his house and edited the photos myself. One was the way I preferred, the other photo was the way he preferred. After editing, we both noticed things in the editing that we both agreed on. The next edit was a blend of what we both wanted. Arguing never solves the problem.
Smiley Shylee please tell us about your proudest professional accomplishment as a Creative Director. There might be many, but there is always this proudest moment that you just want to share with everyone. What is it and why?
The day I recorded in the same studio as my favorite rapper, G-Eazy. I competed to sing a hook in a song. And I made it. It was in California, I drove 10 hours to sing a song for two hours. I was so proud of myself, when I walked out of the recording room, G-Eazy was standing in the hall and I got to meet him. He was recording in the same studio! I was so proud because I had worked so hard for this moment. He told me to keep doing what I love no matter what. And he gave me a hat! Coming from the streets and having nothing, it was an amazing moment for me to know that I did it. I actually did it. Everything that I dreamed about was happening.
Smiley Shylee, please give us an example of a time you were able to be creative with your work. What was exciting or difficult about it?
I am always creative with my work. If I do not have creativity then I am not involved. I manage so that I can take photos the way I like. All of my photos are either abstract, colorful, or different in some way. That is the way my eyes see beauty. I love helping others capture their own kind of beauty. Creativity is always necessary. Without it, you will not have a passion for what you are doing.
What advice would you give to the people who want to be successful as a Creative Director?
Your soul knows the way. Your heart is your guide. Deep down, everybody knows what they truly want. Follow that. Follow your own Compass. It may be that you end up on the streets with nothing, but if your soul told you to be there then that is where you need to be. You have a purpose. Make your own purpose. And never give up.
Are you looking for collaboration with fashion talents, brands, and creatives? If yes, please state what type of collaboration you are looking for?
Anything and everything I can get my hands on! Modeling for independent companies, photographing this beautiful area I live in for magazines, singing live at a concert, helping someone manage their own agency. I am here for it all. I know I am meant to do great things. Everybody is, and we need to help each other get there.
Now for the best part Smiley Shylee! Please upload 5-10 photos so we can get to see your work.
