Model : Sienna Davis
Tell us about your daughter. How did she get her interest in modeling and as a parent, how did you talk to her?
Sienna started modeling at 4 years old. Her older brothers had modeled and we thought she had the right personality for it too. So we gave it a go.
How important is modeling education: Has she attended modeling courses? What related courses or studies has she taken?
Education is very important. Sienna is luckily a very academic student & enjoys school. She hasn't done any modeling courses as she has learnt on the job. (She has done over 100 paid jobs since she started modeling).
What do you think makes someone “fit” to be a model?
I think having confidence is a big factor. Having the right personality and being comfortable in your own skin is key. Being adaptable and easy going, to be able to take instruction from complete strangers is something that goes with the job.
What do you know about the advertisement industry, advertising psychology, and photography?
People like to be able to relate to advertising and to think that they can wear the clothing or whatever it may be that is being sold. So it's important to believe in what you are selling as it comes across in the photo.
How do you communicate with people? Are you patient? Are you friendly? How open are you to clients’ requirements?
I like to think that I am a friendly person. I am easy going and can get along with just about anybody on a job or anywhere. I'm a talker and not shy so I can easily get to know what a client wants.
Does she eat nutritiously? How do you balance her studies and modeling career?
I'm a bit of a fruit bat & I love fruit. So I love making smoothies and eating fruit salad. I do love the naughty stuff too. I exercise a lot, I play netball, do karate, play soccer. At the moment, modeling isn't full time just yet, so it doesn't get in the way of school too much yet.
What is her dream role as a model? What do you aspire for her?
When I was little I wanted to be a Victoria Secret model like Miranda Kerr at the time who wore the wings. Although that would be cool, I would like to do acting as well. I've done a few TVCs & I like that.. Modeling will definitely be in my future. We will just have to see what happens.
Does he/she have any limitations? How do you define her boundaries when choosing to accept a modeling request?
So far we haven't had to worry about that too much. Things have to be age appropriate for her. They definitely have to be a reputable brand.
State his/her availability: Would you travel? Work full-time, part-time? Any hours?
We would definitely travel for work. Sienna is available for bookings.
As a parent, what pieces of advice could you give to the parents reading this?
As a parent, you definitely have to go into this industry with eyes wide open. Not be fooled into something you don't feel comfortable with and definitely go with reputable companies. It is worth it as it is great for confidence and opens up doorways to opportunities you might not necessarily get otherwise.
For the young model: Tell us your most memorable experience in modeling so far?
My most memorable moment was turning up to a job I did for David Jones & working with Megan Gale. I ended up working with her 3 years running on Christmas campaigns. Also when I met Miranda Kerr. She was beautiful. The best part is making friends who understand what it's like to do modeling. I have made some life long friends already.
