ABOUT

I work full time as a nurse. I'm also a wife & mother. PLUS Modeling is my passion for inspiring other women to find that self-esteem they need & live their life happy by not letting their insecurities hold them back like I did for so long. I have big goals and have achieved most of them.

Sheryl, what are your passion and aspiration in life? How did you start as a Model?

I love my family, friends & life in general. Travelling is my passion as well. I submitted for a fashion show, got the gig and have been modelling ever since!

Who is your inspiration in life Sheryl? How do you keep inspired?

Mostly the people in my life that have worked so hard to make their dreams happen. It influences me to push myself.

We all make mistakes Sheryl; we wish we could take back. Please tell us about time being a Model; you wish you’d handled a situation differently with a colleague.

I try to help so much...too much sometimes. As a nurse and a mom that comes naturally for me. With that said, sometimes I over-exhaust myself with helping others that I forget to take care of me. Going out of my way for strangers who take advantage of me is one of my weaknesses. I've learned to let people prove their genuineness before totally throwing myself out there and volunteering my time & energy. This business can wear you down if you aren't careful.

Sheryl, when you’re working with a large number of clients, it’s tricky to deliver excellent service to them all. As a Model, how do you go about prioritising your clients’ needs?

It's easy...#1 make sure you KNOW what the client needs are prior to agreeing to the job. Don't promise or sign up for something you can't deliver. #2 prioritise WITH them, get a clear direction of what's needed and get it done in a timely manner. Everyone's time is precious, including yours & your clients.

Please tell us, Sheryl, about a time you had to be very strategic in order to meet all your top priorities as a Model?

I was recently asked to review a designers garment for the fit & opinions of the style. I was not sure when I would be able to travel to get the garment, for time management purposes, I suggested the piece be mailed to me and I could send it back. It worked out very well. The client got the info they needed on time & no one had to travel hours to do it.

Sheryl, please give us an example of a time when you were able to persuade someone to see things your way at work successfully.

One time a photo shoot was going to be cancelled, the hair stylist did not show or call. The whole project was going to be delayed and waisted the models, photographers, designers & makeup artists time...I quickly suggested that I attempt to do a quick style (I always have my model bag with me complete with hair, makeup & other essentials) in order to keep the project going. The designer didn't seem too convinced, so I just started doing my hair along with the other models...the designer saw this and change her mind! The project would not be cancelled due to the chance I took in that case.

Sheryl, please tell us about your proudest professional accomplishment as a Model. There might be many, but there is always this proudest moment that you want to share with everyone. What is it and why?

Seeing myself in a Sears department adds. I thought that was pretty sweet.

Sheryl, please give us an example of a time you were able to be creative with your work. What was exciting or difficult about it?

I love it when I collaborate with other people in the fashion industry. One magazine submission I did was during Halloween time, the photographer and I had so much fun with the shoot from planning it to the shooting. The best part was, even if the magazine hadn't taken the submission...they were still creative, cool pictures I'd have forever. (They did accept them by the way)

What advice would you give to the people who want to be successful as a Model?

Do your research. Be prepared to hear NO a lot. Keep going no matter what!

Are you looking for collaboration with fashion talents, brands and creatives? If yes, please state below what type of collaboration you are looking for?

Of course! I am open to any brands or talents wanting to collaborate.
