ABOUT

What is unique about me is my bravery. I am not afraid of anything. When a task comes up, I am determined to finish it. I do any activity and know I will finish it.

Shel, what are your passion and aspiration in life? How did you start as a Model?

I am passionate about acting and modelling. My mom got me started as a model for Boscov's, but once I got into the elementary school, I stopped. Later in high school, I wanted to model again, so my dad helped me get into a fashion show. I aspire to work for brands and be in commercials. I want to open people's minds to new ideas and expand upon what they already know. I want to show people there are different things out there and make them more interested in discovering new perspectives. I want to get people to do more in life with their passions.

Who is your inspiration in life Shel? How do you keep inspired?

Lana Parrilla because she is amazing. She is great, nice, and is always thinking of others.

We all make mistakes Shel; we wish we could take back. Please tell us about time being a Model; you wish you’d handled a situation differently with a colleague.

It is hard to tell if something is legit or a scam. I was with a manager who I thought would help me. I was with her for one year, and she didn't say anything for me. She didn't help me get jobs. I also meet with another agency but didn't work with them because of the person I live with. The person I live with thinks everything is a scam so with this agency I was told they were a scam. I don't know if that's true or not, but I didn't sign with them because of that. I am with someone who is very negative, but now I don't tell that person anything, so if something comes up and it's legit, I can do it and not be talked out of it.

Shel, when you’re working with a large number of clients, it’s tricky to deliver excellent service to them all. As a Model, how do you go about prioritising your clients’ needs?

Doing research. I look up their past work and what they want and don't want. This way I come in being prepared for what I need to do, and I can bring something new to the table because I researched the company.

Please tell us, Shel, about a time you had to be very strategic in order to meet all your top priorities as a Model?

Being organised is key. I try to do something every day so I am active and my day isn't a waste. I study different poses and looks. I also make sure my time management skills are good. I make sure I allow time for traffic, or if I get lost, I make sure I am there early. I like to show up early so I can relax and prepare for the actual start time so I'm ready to go.

Shel, please give us an example of a time when you were able to persuade someone to see things your way at work successfully.

I was acting in this one project, and the director and I had a slightly different view on the character. After talking to him and telling him I know people who are like this and they would act this way in a situation, he let me take over the character.

Shel, please tell us about your proudest professional accomplishment as a Model. There might be many, but there is always this proudest moment that you want to share with everyone. What is it and why?

I was helping the photographer from The Indie Pursuit do some test photos and then a short photo shoot. Because of me showing up early, working hard, and even helping him with the photos, he asked me if I was interested in being a co-lead in his commercial to promote the website, The Indie Pursuit. I said yes and was in his commercial because of my dedication.

Shel, please give us an example of a time you were able to be creative with your work. What was exciting or difficult about it?

For modelling, I am usually told what to do, but for acting a few times, I was able to pick my characters to look which was fun.

What advice would you give to the people who want to be successful as a Model?

It's hard at first, but keep going at it.

Are you looking for collaboration with fashion talents, brands and creatives? If yes, please state below what type of collaboration you are looking for?

Yes. I would love to work with many people and create something amazing.
