Trinidad and Tobago
State / Region
I biggest dream in life is to be an international model, to be traveling the world and representing my small country of Trinidad and Tobago. While achieving dream I can display some of my unique qualities such as my unique sense of style and my way of trying to create a different perspective in the way people look at things.
Shantal, what are your passion and aspiration in life? How did you start as a Model?
As a young girl growing up one of my dreams has always been to be a model just as my big sister. A few of aspirations in life is to hopefully one day be apart of America's Next Top Model and also coming back to my country and giving young ladies with the same dream as mine the opportunity to experience the things I've learnt.
Who is your inspiration in life Shantal? How do you keep inspired?
My big sister Britney, she inspires me, and I try to follow her as my role model, and my dreams keep me inspired every day.
We all make mistakes Shantal; we wish we could take back. Please tell us about time being a Model; you wish you’d handled a situation differently with a colleague.
I've never been in a situation that I could take back, but if I am in the future, I do hope that I would do my best to handle the situation as professional as I possibly can.
Shantal, when you’re working with a large number of clients, it’s tricky to deliver excellent service to them all. As a Model, how do you go about prioritising your clients’ needs?
There are many variables that I would consider when prioritizing, some of which would be the time frame it needs to be done, what is it needed for, the difficulty of the job etc. looking at some of these things could then help assist me in devising the best schedule I can to get the most work done in the easiest way.
Please tell us Shantal, about a time you had to be very strategic in order to meet all your top priorities as a Model?
As a model I have to take the time to look at what's best for my image, what would work best for me in the long run and what would take me the furthest in my career, these are some of the things I take into careful consideration when making decisions as a model
Shantal, please give us an example of a time when you were able to persuade someone to see things your way at work successfully.
There was a time I had a vision, but the photographer didn't agree, in this case, it takes patience to help a person to understand what you see and find a way to meet in the middle, this was achieved by doing both ideas
Shantal, please tell us about your proudest professional accomplishment as a Model. There might be many, but there is always this proudest moment that you want to share with everyone. What is it and why?
My proudest moment was when I found the courage to enter a pageant and when things got hard, and I was about to give up my closest friend talked to me and made sure I didn't, and that really made me reflect on myself, and I believed in myself, thou I didn't win I came second , and that made me feel a lot better about myself especially seeing how proud my family and friends were of me.
Shantal, please give us an example of a time you were able to be creative with your work. What was exciting or difficult about it?
Shooting with photographer Christon Searles, it was my first actual shoot, we didn't have any set goal we just decided to do it, and in the end, we had a lot of fun, we were creative and came out with some beautiful images one of which is the cover photo attached below.
What advice would you give to the people who want to be successful as a Model?
Be your own style, be unique, be confident, believe in yourself and don't give up as well as open-minded to new ideas
Are you looking for collaboration with fashion talents, brands and creatives? If yes, please state below what type of collaboration you are looking for?
I am always willing to meet and work with new people; it opens a door for new learning experiences.
