I have my style; I'm very eclectic. I'm inspired by all aspects of life. Whatever I do, I ensure that there is a story behind it.
Shanna-Kay, what are your passion and aspiration in life? How did you start as a Designer?
One day I hope to own my own fashion house, I want my brand to be a household name. I've always been interested in design, I've been designing since as long as I can remember.
Who is your inspiration in life Shanna-Kay? How do you keep inspired?
My great-grandma really, everything I do is for her. Whenever I'm feeling uninspired, I call her, and she always makes it better.
We all make mistakes Shanna-Kay, we wish we could take back. Please tell us about time being a Designer; you wish you’d handled a situation differently with a colleague.
This is a very embarrassing story; I once walked out of a class because the lecturer didn't like my work and I was heartbroken.
Shanna-Kay, when you’re working with a large number of clients, it’s tricky to deliver excellent service to them all. As a Designer, how do you go about prioritising your clients’ needs?
My clients are my number one priority; I always try to make sure that they are pleased if they have an issue with something I always try to fix it.
Please tell us Shanna-Kay, about a time you had to be very strategic to meet all your top priorities as a Designer?
I keep a list of all I have to do, and I always start my clients' work early.
Shanna-Kay, please give us an example of a time when you were able to persuade someone to see things your way at work successfully.
This is a hard one because we all view things differently, and sometimes we all think that our opinion is more valuable. Whenever I'm in a situation like that, I also try to let the other person know that their opinion is respected and try to show them a way that we both can achieve our goals.
Shanna-Kay, please tell us about your proudest professional accomplishment as a Designer. There might be many, but there is always this proudest moment that you just want to share with everyone. What is it and why?
When I designed a cultural carnival costume, I was impressed by how many people liked it
Shanna-Kay, please give us an example of a time you were able to be creative with your work. What was exciting or difficult about it?
Every project requires me to be creative. I'd say the experimental phase is most difficult, but it's also very exciting.
What advice would you give to the people who want to be successful as a Designer?
Hard work! You have to be willing to sacrifice some things for example sleep. Always research, see what's on the market, see what is in demand. Also, marketing is very important, yes asking for help is ok.
Are you looking for collaboration with fashion talents, brands and creatives? If yes, please state what type of collaboration you are looking for?
Yes sure, I'm always open to collaboration! I'd like to work with fashion designers and jewellery designers.
