I am an aspiring model, hoping to sign with a modelling agency whose values are aligned with mine. I currently work at South Bryan County Recreation, but I know my big break is coming soon! I enjoy listening to music, painting, art, fashion, sports, traveling and family time. I began my modeling journey about three years ago, but I still have some much more learning. I am very coachable and always eager to learn and try new things.
Our readers would love to get to know you more Shanice. Tell us about yourself, what is unique about you?
I am a black, college educated woman with a heart as pure as gold. I am very driven and hard working. Anything I want, I go after it! I'm the youngest of three and love to play/watch sports. During my undergrad years in college, I was a student leader on my campus and in my community. The most unique thing about me is my personality and me as an individual. I'm truly unforgettable and I mean that in the most humble way.
Shanice , what are your passion and aspiration in life? How did you start as a Model?
My passion and aspiration in life are to be who God has called me to be while helping others along the way. I started modeling my Junior year in college. I was super nervous about it, because of the fear of the unknown. So, one day my friend from college, Barry Hudgins (CEO of Living Royalty Clothing Line), told me he was hosting a casting call for his first fashion show, and jokingly, I asked when and where and he told. At that point, I'm like oh shoot...what have I gotten myself into lol. So, I went to the casting call and did well. The model coordinator, April Cooper (she's an amazinnngggg MUA and Model Coordinator) was impressed with my walk was surprised that that was my first time modeling and going to a casting call. They told me I made the cut and the rest is history.
Who is your inspiration in life Shanice? How do you keep inspired?
My inspiration in life is my mom. She's super dope man lol. I admire how resilience and caring nature so much. She's always been my biggest supporter and the one I could go to about anything. To keep me inspired, I enjoy being around like-minded, successful people, reading scriptures, watching or listening to motivational speeches.
We all make mistakes Shanice,we wish we could take back. Please tell us about time being a Model; you wish you’d handled a situation differently with a colleague.
I honestly have not had a moment like this before. I usually look at everything as a lesson learned and tried to find the good out of every situation.
Shanice, when you’re working with a large number of clients, it’s tricky to deliver excellent service to them all. As a Model, how do you go about prioritizing your clients’ needs?
No, it's not. Excellent service should reflect who you are. I always ask myself, "okay, if I was in that person's shoes, how would I want to be treated?
Please tell us, Shanice, about a time you had to be very strategic to meet all your top priorities as a Model?
This past January, I participated in Living Royalty's Fashion, I had to make sure that I had everything I needed for all practices and the actual show because I was traveling. I always made sure that I had the right attire for practices, I asked questions and had everything I needed for the show.
Shanice, please give us an example of a time when you were able to successfully persuade someone to see things your way at work.
I help coach a basketball team a the Rec Department I work for, and I persuade the head coach to let me had practice and show the boys what all I know. He agreed to the workout plan I had and let me go for it.
Shanice, please tell us about your proudest professional accomplishment as a Model. There might be many, but there is always this proudest moment that you just want to share with everyone. What is it and why?
My proudest moment, thus far, was doing my first show. Like I said earlier, trying modeling made nervous because I was afraid of the unknown. Once I finished my first show, I was proud of myself for overcoming that fear. I haven't stopped modeling since.
Shanice, please give us an example of a time you were able to be creative with your work. What was exciting or difficult about it?
What advice would you give to the people who want to be successful as a Model?
Just do it! Don't be afraid to try because you never know what's on the other side. Stay prayed, work your ass off and get it!
Are you looking for collaboration with fashion talents, brands and creatives? If yes, please state what type of collaboration you are looking for?
Yes, I would love to work with Nike, Adidas, Tyra Banks, Fashion Nova, Nigel Barker and more!
