I am not just an Editorial and Runway Model; I also study Psychology at Boston International. I enjoy doing art and reading, but most of all my family is very important to me.
Shane, what are your passion and aspiration in life? How did you start as a Model?
I aspired to become a top model, just like most four-year-old girls; however after taking some classes, I decided that I not enjoy it. Then at 14 years old a bunch of friends and myself chose to do a fun little photo shoot. After that my career just took off and I got noticed by so many brands and photographers I almost couldn't keep up.
Who is your inspiration in life Shane? How do you keep inspired?
The beautiful Candice Swanepoel mostly inspires me; she is also a South African girl who's Modelling career took her to high places.
We all make mistakes Shane; we wish we could take back. Please tell us about time being a Model; you wish you’d handled a situation differently with a colleague.
It was on one of my International excursions when (obviously) a few of the girls got bitchy towards me, keep in mind that I was the only South African girl in the show. They took over, mad horrible comments and put me down in everything I said ... guess what? I spiked their Iced Teas with laxatives; they had to sit in the bathrooms almost the whole show. I do wish I handled their hate differently, unfortunately, I didn't, and I brought myself down to their level.
Shane, when you’re working with a large number of clients, it’s tricky to deliver excellent service to them all. As a Model, how do you go about prioritising your clients’ needs?
I enjoy working with my clients, as a Model, sometimes getting to all of them can be hard. However all my clients take priority, I would rather try and schedule my clients for a day each to ensure I get my rest, but they also get my maximum effort in the job they want me to do.
Please tell us, Shane, about a time you had to be very strategic in order to meet all your top priorities as a Model?
I once had to plan my day out to the smallest detail; I had 2 hours of sleep. However I got to all of them, unfortunately being a Model is harder than most people think, I luckily have a wonderful agent who plans perfectly.
Shane, please give us an example of a time when you were able to persuade someone to see things your way at work successfully.
I worked with an amazing Photographer called Eve van Heerden; she is amazing at looking at things from the model's point of view. She works it into her concepts and brings out my personality perfectly in her work.
Shane, please tell us about your proudest professional accomplishment as a Model. There might be many, but there is always this proudest moment that you want to share with everyone. What is it and why?
I would say travelling Internationally in 2015 when I was 17 years old. I had my first huge break then, and it was amazing, really intimidating and hard work, but waking up each morning at about 4 and only getting home after an 8hour day ... it was a challenge but so so so amazing. I was published in the ELLE magazine.
Shane, please give us an example of a time you were able to be creative with your work. What was exciting or difficult about it?
I had a "free" photoshoot for my portfolio once, and I took out allllll my creativity. It was a wonderful shoot where my makeup was done in a mystical, fantasy type way. I enjoyed it so much.
What advice would you give to the people who want to be successful as a Model?
Keep trying, it won't happen overnight, but it will happen sometime. Never give up, even if it feels useless and like your efforts are for nothing. Trust me; all good things take time ...
Are you looking for collaboration with fashion talents, brands and creatives? If yes, please state below what type of collaboration you are looking for?
Yes definitely, I would love to collaborate with fashion brands, other models and makeup brands etc.
