State / Region

I studied at The University of Calgary and majored in Directing, Producing and Writing at SAIT. Beauty, fashion and art have always been my passion since I was a little girl.

At the age of 10, I began singing after having bought my first album, Wannabe by the Spice Girls. From that moment on, I knew I wanted to be a Singer and Performer.

Growing up, I was painfully shy and arts, fashion and expressing myself creatively were my outlets. They were my escape and over the years I have modelled in local glamour and lifestyle photoshoots and on bridal show runways. I have also done some voice over work and am currently in the midst of getting my debut album completed.

All the songs on the album are written by me, including the vocal melody.

One of my goals is to also be social media influencer and Instagram has helped me with this. I love having the opportunity to express myself and choose what I wish to share.

Eventually, I would love to get into acting. I am also a certified aHolistic Health Coach who helps performing artists gain a more balanced and healthy lifestyle, as well as the every day working woman.

I have a few published articles in a lifestyle magazine on health, wellness and beauty and strongly believe whether you are a model, a singer, a dancer, writer or more, it is extremely important to take your health seriously and to get to know your body and recognize what it is telling you that it needs.

I am a multitpassionate individual and have always been this way since my childhood. I want to say that you should never allow anyone to discourage you from following your dreams. I remember going to auditions and this one time, a casting lady said to me, "You will never be a supermodel. You're too short." Another one said to me, "Your eyebrows are way too bushy... "

However, I persevered and though I may not be a supermodel on the main runway, I feel so less than one in my life. Keep surrounding yourself with people who love you and support you, and nothing is impossible. I know I will make my mark in this world and that's all I need to remember. Always be yourself and always stand strong in who you are.

Our readers would love to get to know you more Sangeeta . Tell us about yourself, what is unique about you?

I am a local model from Calgary, Alberta. I moved to Calgary as a young teen with my immediate family. I started singing at the age of 10 and am currently completing my debut album. All songs have been self written.

Sangeeta , what are your passion and aspiration in life? How did you start as a Model?

My mum always encouraged me to get into modelling and performing arts in my childhood. I was painfully shy, but as I grew up, I realised how much I love it and being in front of the camera and on stage.

Who is your inspiration in life Sangeeta ? How do you keep inspired?

My inspiration in life is Oprah Winfrey. She is always head strong and knows what she wants and is never afraid to pursue it. I also greatly look up to Katrina Kaif, who has worked extremely hard to make a name for herself in the Bollywood film industry. Most importantly however, I look up to my mother and father. They are the strongest people I know and they never give up on me. They are the reason I am here today and the reason I believe in myself.

We all make mistakes Sangeeta , we wish we could take back. Please tell us about a time being a Model , you wish you’d handled a situation differently with a colleague.
I was at a modelling gig and one of the ladies in charge had been quite disrespectful and rude to me the entire day. I wish back then that I had the courage to stand up to her politely and tell her no one, model or not, should ever be treated that way. Instead, I did my work as told and let it go. I'm proud of myself for having handled it with poise, but it's a reminder to all models that if you are ever mistreated, you have a right to walk away.

Sangeeta  ,when you’re working with a large number of clients, it’s tricky to deliver excellent service to them all. As a Model, how do you go about prioritizing your clients’ needs?

I make sure the modelling gig is first of all in line with my passions and morals. I also believe it is important to treat everyone with the same respect and to know that no modelling job is too small or too big. If they treat me well, I am happy to be modelling for them and working with them. From there, it's a matter of looking at my calendar, getting all details and planning accordingly.

Please tell us Sangeeta , about a time you had to be very strategic in order to meet all your top priorities as a Model?

I am often juggling multiple things in one day, so again this comes down to prioritizing properly by sitting down ahead of time to get all details from the client, scheduling and planning accordingly and having all my items of clothing and makeup ready to go for the next day. This way, I can enjoy the modelling gig better and it is less stressful for everyone involved.

Sangeeta , please give us an example of a time when you were able to successfully persuade someone to see things your way at work.
I had to make a decision about an item of clothing that I had to wear for a shoot. I wasn't feeling particularly glamorous or comfortable in what was chosen for me. However, I stuck to my beliefs and marched up to the individuals in charge. I respectfully told them they would get a better result out of me by allowing me to wear what I think looks good and flattering on me. I understand not every shoot works this way, but I do think we all have a responsibility to take control where we can and that's ultimately how respect is also gained; through compromising and cooperating with others. Luckily, they allowed me to try the other outfit on and I won my case :)

Sangeeta please tell us about your proudest professional accomplishment as a Model. There might be many, but there is always this proudest moment that you just want to share to everyone. What is it and why?
I have a long way to go still, but I think my proudest moment is having people come up or commenting on my social media that they have been inspired by me and my story. I want to show others that models are not just beauty, but they also have brains and multiple ambitions and passions. Every modelling gig is a blessing and a wonderful chance to dress up and grow as an individual and also a wonderful form of expression.

Sangeeta , please give us an example of a time you were able to be creative with your work. What was exciting or difficult about it?
I think every photoshoot is a chance to be creative and it's about getting out of your head and just having fun. If a shot goes wrong, it's okay. There are other chances to get it right on the next click. Also, the fact that I have the freedom to model through my own music and art is a blessing. I never take that for granted.

What advice would you give to the people who wants to be successful as a Model?

I would say, stay true to yourself and find an agency or team of people who you connect well with. There should always be mutual respect between you and don't be afraid to speak up if you are ever uncomfortable or if something doesn't sit well with you. Keep trying and keep believing in yourself and in your dreams. It's okay if you look different than everyone else, use that as your unique edge and strength.

Are you looking for collaboration with fashion talents, brands and creatives? If yes, please state below what type of collaboration you are looking for?
I would love to work with more high end brands and other artists in modelling, music and performing :)

Now for the best part Sangeeta ! Please upload 5-10 photos so we can get to see your work.
