Samy, what are your passion and aspiration in life? How did you start as a Model?
The truth is: we lived in an unprecedented time. Our desires for achievement are greater than ever. The feelings of overwhelming, for many, are continually rising. And the exposure to empty information is increasing. My passion and aspirations are to interweave a unique message into the strands of this generation. The hope is that in doing so, I would have positively impacted young people's lives, by taking them away from the veneers of wealth and fame, and towards gratitude and self-acceptance. While wealth and fame are not necessarily something not worth aspiring to, they can't be the be-all and end-all. Outside of that resonance within me, I want to be able to enjoy the simple moments in my life. To treasure my life, my friends, and the earth around me. I deeply enjoy travelling and experiencing unique cultures, not necessarily for fun (although I love that too) - but for what they offer to my growth. The lessons and ideas I've been able to come up with while travelling has been extraordinary.
Who is your inspiration in life Samy? How do you keep inspired?
Thankfully, I'm born in a time where we have access to something we call "the Internet". Growing up, I didn't have many real-life models to look up to. I had no father around, and my mum was constantly working during. With the Internet, however, I was able to learn from amazing individuals in various fields. James Clear - For his research based writing style Mark Manson - For his wit and counterintuitive viewsElliot Hulse - For everything he taught me about nutrition and lifting Zinedine Zidane - For his eloquent grace on and off the pitchPrince EA - For his unbelievable service through his powerful videosTai Lopez - For helping me to focus on reading and mentorshipKyle Ceasse - For reminding me to be more playful and lighthearted with my goalsBrian Tracy - For teaching me about mindset and productivityJim Rohn - For teaching me his masterful approach to decision makingI'm so grateful to have found these people.
We all make mistakes Samy; we wish we could take back. Please tell us about time being a Model; you wish you’d handled a situation differently with a colleague.
I remember a situation once where I misread an email communication and interpreted it as a little rude.I responded by email when it would have been better for me to speak to the person when I met them. The lesson I learnt from this experience is to not always trust your first interpretation of a piece of written communication via email. Sometimes things can be written a certain way, but they may not always mean what you think they do.
Samy, when you’re working with a large number of clients, it’s tricky to deliver excellent service to them all. As a Model, how do you go about prioritising your clients’ needs?
I believe in getting clarity on a project before anything gets done.Naturally, I ask the most specific and poignant questions I can, before going ahead with a project. By attempting to understand everything a client wants (from their perspective) I can work on it with more confidence, energy, and focus.Often, it's not a lack of motivation or desire that prevents a person from fulfilling their client's needs: it's simply a lack of clarity. Once you have that, and you're able to manage your time effectively - you can get anything done. By focusing on a client's needs like they're my only client, I can give them the full quality of my service. Of course, in situations where there are multiple projects/clients involved, that might seem to be a little more difficult. Ideally, however, I like to designate a half-full day exclusively for one work client. And that way, I never let one client's needs interrupt another client's needs.
Please tell us Samy, about a time you had to be very strategic to meet all your top priorities as a Model?
Mindset, Strategy, and Execution form the three pillars to any success. To have the right strategy in place, you have to understand your objective. I remember a situation where I needed to get a portfolio done at a time where my income was low. I didn't know what to do at first, but I focused on being resourceful. I would ask myself: who could do a brilliant portfolio job for me at an inexpensive price? That's when I searched online for intermediate photographers who were up-and-coming and also needed photos for their portfolios. In sharing my portfolio this way, I was able to get a brilliant price and brilliant service.
Samy, please give us an example of a time when you were able to persuade someone to see things your way at work successfully.
Samy, please tell us about your proudest professional accomplishment as a Model. There might be many, but there is always this proudest moment that you want to share with everyone. What is it and why?
My proudest moment was getting my article on Smartphone addiction published on TinyBuddha.com (a leading blog), and getting it shared over 5000 times across social media.
Samy, please give us an example of a time you were able to be creative with your work. What was exciting or difficult about it?
I was creative with my book on samyfelice.com/book which took over 80 hours of work to complete. It's been read over a thousand times, and for me, knowing that something I created was going to be ready by so many people meant that I had to be an absolute perfectionist with every single word. I had to rewrite it continually over the course of three months before I was happy with the final result.
What advice would you give to the people who want to be successful as a Model?
Know what makes you unique. Understand what people want.Try to submerge yourself between those two areas. Always think about how you can be different from the rest of the competition, while not forgetting to use what works.
Are you looking for collaboration with fashion talents, brands and creatives? If yes, please state what type of collaboration you are looking for?
Yes, I'd love to work with new photographers and fashion talents.
