I feel glad every day for this experience that we have on this beautiful planet, so much to see in a short time of life. My inspiration is to capture some of this beauty of our planet and its people with my lens and show the world how lucky and special we are.

Ruy, what are your passion and aspiration in life? How did you start as Photographer?
My passion is to be alive, to breath, I feel glad every day for this experience that we have on this beautiful planet, so much to see in a short time of life. My inspiration is to capture some of this beauty of our planet and its people with my lens and show the world how lucky and special we are.
Who is your inspiration in life Ruy? How do you stay inspired as a Photographer?
Mario Testino. I am always inspired by the locations he chooses and his eye. Every project is unique.
We all make mistakes Ruy; we wish we could take back. What was the mistake you made in the past that you wish you can take back?
I don't know. I only wish I could have the chance to do something that I didn't want to do before.
Ruy, How do you describe yourself in terms of working with clients?
Very professional, I try to listen to all the client's needs.
Please tell us Ruy, how do you prioritize work, social life, friends, and family?
I believe life is about balance, and I also believe that if we are not at our best physically and emotionally, we can't be our best at work. Of course, when I'm on a project, I put all my energy on that, because I want the outcome to be the best possible. Other time I balance my time between work, family and friends, but I always bring my camera with me ;)
Ruy, please give us an example of a time when you were able to persuade someone to see things your way at work successfully.
Once the client wanted to take photos of her jewelry new collection in the studio. I convinced her that we should go to Bali to shoot her silver jewelry in beautiful beach and amazing gold sunset. The results came out amazing, and now every time we work together, she says, " I trust you, do what you think will be beautiful. I'm sure it will be."
Ruy, please tell us about your proudest professional accomplishment as a Photographer.
It was in India. I was shooting some portraits and landscapes when I found a beautiful family in a small village. They were amazed by the big camera and very interested in watching me a photograph. I asked if I could take a photo of them and they were happy to do it. Later that week, I printed the photo and put it on a wall frame and went to give it to them. They were so happy and emotional, it may be such a simple thing for us, but for them, it meant a lot. It's this kind of things that make me happy that photography sometimes brings me to these beautiful people with simple and beautiful hearts.
Ruy, please give us an example of a time you were able to be creative with your work. What was exciting or difficult about it?
My favorite shootings are in nature. Forests, beaches, islands, mountains... so I always have to deal with unexpected situations.
What advice would you give to the people who want to be successful as a Photographer?
Pay attention to the colors and shapes of nature, always have your camera with you and keep shooting.
