Rodica's journey in fashion began since she was a child. She found herself enjoyed playing with dolls, even till now, she still does. She was always asking for fabric scraps from an atelier in her hometown village in Moldova. She can still recall, she would sketch and create new designs, and she felt that it was a sign to be a fashion designer. But... like in soap operas, it was not that easy. Rodica chose another path in her life, and she came back to fashion when she was 30 years old. In continuing to go chasing her dream, she moved to Vancouver and enrolled LaSalle College. Her passion for contrasts, fusion between Canadian Urban Style and European Chic, balancing business and casual styles, adding some fun - gives her unique, casual, creative and chic style. Her mission is to provide to her customer quality, innovative design, contemporary functionality, captivating visual effects, art, feminine look and fun. Fabric manipulations, sophisticated pattern drafting, style, texture and color contrasts are the key details that define her
Our readers would love to get to know you more Rodica. Tell us about yourself, what is unique about you?
I am like a swan, stunning and graceful
on the water surface but working hard to make it happened
Rodica, what are your passion and aspiration in life? How did you start as a Designer?
My passion is fashion and art. I use fashion as a medium for my art. Despite all the challenges I never gave up on my dream to be a fashion designer and a few years ago I decided to chance my dream
Who is your inspiration in life Rodica? How do you keep inspired?
I am inspired by life itself, by nature, history, art, people and feelings. I don't want my thoughts to die; I want to do something to express my gratitude that I am a human being and I live. I take advantage of every moment I live, and don't have time not to be inspired ;)
We all make mistakes Rodica; we wish we could take back. Please tell us about time being a Designer, you wish you’d handled a situation differently with a colleague.
One of my weakness is that I can not wait. Sometimes I'd wish to have the ability to wait for making a quick decision.
Rodica, when you’re working with a large number of clients, it’s tricky to deliver excellent service to them all. As a Designer, how do you go about prioritizing your clients’ needs?
Timing is important. I deal very well with time management, and I am not a last minute person. If I have to spend my nights working, I'll do it with pleasure.
Please tell us Rodica, about a time you had to be very strategic to meet all your top priorities as a Designer?
At this moment I deal with this kind of situation. I work full time as a pattern drafter, I work with my customers and also working on my FW'18 collection. My degree in math helps me to find the right formula to be strategic ;)
Rodica, please give us an example of a time when you were able to successfully persuade someone to see things your way at work.
I was involved in Eco Fashion week Bed sheet challenge. I made a Red Carpet dress from bed sheets. After this, I was asked to make a Red Carpet dress for Cannes Festival.
Rodica, please tell us about your proudest professional accomplishment as a Designer. There might be many, but there is always this proudest moment that you just want to share with everyone. What is it and why?
I am very proud of my last collection. It is also my graduation collection. It is a lot of art work and perfect combination of art and fashion to wear. The collection is very functional and artistic same way
Rodica, please give us an example of a time you were able to be creative with your work. What was exciting or difficult about it?
The fun part is to keep be creative when you face problems. For me, there is always a solution, and the creative part is to be positive about it.
What advice would you give to the people who want to be successful as a Designer?
never give up
Are you looking for collaboration with fashion talents, brands and creatives? If yes, please state what type of collaboration you are looking for?
as an emerging designer, I am always open to any collaboration
