Our readers would love to get to know you more Ricky. Tell us about yourself, what is unique about you, your brand or the services you offer?
I am very much a creative person I love getting the opportunity to work on anything to continue to grow as an artist. I have extreme attention to detail and an intuitive sense of style and design.
Ricky, what are your passion and aspiration in life? How did you start as a Model?
I am a singer. Singing has always been a great passion of mine. I love to sing in any genre but tend to gravitate towards R&B, soul and the blues.
Who is your inspiration in life Ricky? How do you stay inspired as Model?
My friends and those around me keep me inspired. We are all doing the best we can to do things in life that give us a sense of fulfillment, and when I see them putting forth so much effort, it motivates me as well.
We all make mistakes Ricky; we wish we could take back. What was the error you made in the past that you want to you can bring back?
I wish I weren't so hard on myself. I am my greatest enemy at times and get in my way. I need to be more forgiving and allow myself to make mistakes.
Ricky, How do you describe yourself regarding working with clients?
I am very easy going and more than willing to do what is necessary to get things done. There is nothing too big or too small.
Please tell us, Ricky, how do you prioritise work, social life, friends, and family?
Work indeed comes first, I mean it defiantly takes up a considerable portion of my life like most people; we are hustling to pay our bills. When I have free time, I take that time to decompress and recharge myself. I can be a bit of an introvert so I treasure my "me time", but I always will make time for friends and family.
Ricky, please give us an example of a time when you were able to persuade someone to see things your way at work successfully.
I do have a day job in retail, so that happens on a regular basis. People come in very unsure of what they want and need so they may question if their purchases are right or not. I like to get a little info on them and their needs and will be quite honest with them, and people will trust my opinion the majority of the time. It also helps that I can be a bit charismatic.
Ricky, please tell us about your proudest professional accomplishment as a Model.
My proudest moment was when I got to have substantial creative influence in a shoot. So much so that I even made a headdress for it. I spend hours at home putting together this feather headdress with a crown of roses that we used.
Ricky, please give us an example of a time you were able to be creative with your work. What was exciting or challenging about it?
I did a shoot with my roommate where we recreated famous movie posters that were originally very white and did them with people of colour as a comment on the importance of representation in film. It was exciting because it's always inspiring to do something you believe in and try to make an impact for change big or small.
What advice would you give to the people who want to be successful as a Model?*
Just keep putting yourself out there. There is room for everyone. There isn't only one kind of beauty or one type of market. The world is changing so be ready.
