RR Photography offers commercial and professional photography services in all aspects of the industry but mostly focusing on fashion, boudoir and moody portraits. Creating dramatic stories through images is my speciality.
Raj, what are your passion and aspiration in life? How did you start as Photographer?
My passion is to create cinematic content that describes a mood, story or experience in a very eye-pleasing way. I aspire to be a globally published photographer by collaborating with various artists from different walks of life to make creative content. I started as a hobbyist photographer and turned to fashion when a few of my friends got their portfolios done by me and was encouraged to take it up seriously.
Who is your inspiration in life Raj? How do you stay inspired as a Photographer?
My parents are my major source of inspiration as they have always taught me to strive hard for excellence. I have always found a balance between researching upcoming market trends, networking with like-minded artists and experimenting with new styles of photography to keep myself inspired and motivated.
We all make mistakes Raj; we wish we could take back. What was the mistake you made in the past that you wish you can take back?
If I could take back my biggest mistake, I would not have cared about social media criticism and would have shared my content with the public from early on. My biggest mistake was not sharing my content fearing bad comments or negative publicity, but there is much more encouragement than criticism out there which I learnt the hard way.
Raj, How do you describe yourself in terms of working with clients?
I am more of a flexible person, willing to hear out ideas and reach midpoints to satisfy the client's expectations as well as satisfy my hunger for creativity. I am much more practical than idealistic as I wish for magnificent results than the best setups.
Please tell us Raj, how do you prioritise work, social life, friends, and family?
My priority is my family and then comes work as my family has always supported me in all of my endeavours and encouraged me to do nothing but the best. Social life and friends come after work as I consider them as my stress busters and help me look at difficult situations with different perspectives.
Raj, please give us an example of a time when you were able to persuade someone to see things your way at work successfully.
There have been times when, and it does not suit their profiles. That's when I take up experimenting with styles and angles to show them their best sides and get accredited for that. The initial expectation is too different from the later outcome which is much more appreciated by my clients.
Raj, please tell us about your proudest professional accomplishment as a Photographer.
The proudest moment for me was when some of my content was published in a local magazine and small-town newspaper which my parents saw and called me to congratulate about it. Hearing the words of praise from them was my proudest professional achievement.
Raj, please give us an example of a time you were able to be creative with your work. What was exciting or difficult about it?
At many instances, I have to experiment and showcase something else that's more than what meets the eye. The most difficult scenario for me was my 1st photoshoot with a Bollywood celebrity actor when I was interning at a celebrity photographer's studio, and I was given the lead. I had to come up with the concept incline to the new movie the actor was working on and being a novice I had to scratch my brains and go above and beyond in terms of props, makeup, styling and shooting settings to make the editorial photo shoot a success.
What advice would you give to the people who want to be successful as a Photographer?
I would advise them to keep on experimenting, creating different content to know your strengths, set a niche and work on it every day without procrastinating. And lastly, always share your content no matter what because outside critics are much better to learn from than the inside critics that we all have in ourselves.
