What surprises most people in the little time I've spent with a DSLR camera compared to the quality of my work. They assume I went to school for this or have at least been working with the camera longer.
Preston, what are your passion and aspiration in life? How did you start as a Photographer?
I started in high school with the film. Extremely intrigued with the physics and interactive properties between the camera and light ignited my curiosity within the medium, photography.
Who is your inspiration in life Preston? How do you keep inspired?
I am very self-motivated by the simple influences we pass in day-to-day life. It could be a color, a pattern, a location. I never know the true inspiration until it captures my attention.
We all make mistakes Preston; we wish we could take back. Please tell us about time being a Photographer; you wish you’d handled a situation differently with a colleague.
The only mistakes I can think of surrounding my work would be the small details us artists always notice in our work. Small things like certain shadows or wrinkles. The devil is in the details.
Preston, when you’re working with a large number of clients, it’s tricky to deliver excellent service to them all. As a Photographer, how do you go about prioritising your clients’ needs?
Staying organised to one key to success. Remain on top of your work, time management, and efficient communication.
Please tell us, Preston, about a time you had to be very strategic in order to meet all your top priorities as a Photographer?
I have to choreograph shoots with models on days I'm off which means working around their schedule as well. I make sure to give myself more than enough time to shoot with each model comfortably, avoiding the possibility of rushing at all costs. There is value in time.
Preston, please give us an example of a time when you were able to persuade someone to see things your way at work successfully.
I often take models out of the comfort zone (via outfits, makeup, etc.) which means I have to convince them to trust me when it comes to directing them for the shot. There is a lot of trust between the photographer and the model.
Preston, please tell us about your proudest professional accomplishment as a Photographer. There might be many, but there is always this proudest moment that you want to share with everyone. What is it and why?
My solo gallery show, "Textures and Tones. (2017)" As well as winning an award in the Carolyne Wilson Gallery (2017). It was my first and only semester in a photography class.
Preston, please give us an example of a time you were able to be creative with your work. What was exciting or difficult about it?
All my work is creative, or at least takes the creative juices to get to the final product. It's challenging but a challenge I enjoying taking head-on.
What advice would you give to the people who want to be successful as a Photographer?
Shoot, shoot, shoot! Get out and create whatever it is your mind directs you towards. Don't fight the inspiration. Let it flow, let it guide you.
Are you looking for collaboration with fashion talents, brands and creatives? If yes, please state below what type of collaboration you are looking for?
Yes! I am looking for a collaboration with a magazine company. Anyone willing to believe in me and my work, giving me the chance to show them what I can do if given the opportunity.
