I've always had the desire to model even from a young age, which leads me to take a few classes and trying out for some contests. I am looking to promote empowerment for the plus size industry and natural images.
My unconventional look helps me transcend across ethnic-generic themes and makes for strong pictures. I am starting out in this industry, but I'm confident in my skin and my looks and my pictures. I am willing to work hard to achieve all goals as well as learn techniques. I have done runway, commercial, print work and would love to continue evolving.
Modelling is art, and to me, it represents the confidence of truly being myself. I model to create art and to be a muse to visionaries. It has been a great run so far, and I hope to continue to surge further ahead. I'm looking forward to hearing from you and working towards greatness.
Our readers would love to get to know you more Norka. Tell us about yourself, what is unique about you, your brand or the services you offer?
I am an easy going, fun hard working mother of two who strives to make a change in the industry by empowering other women my age and being a role model. I'm bi-lingual and a go-getter.
Norka, what are your passion and aspiration in life? How did you start as a Model?
My aspiration in life is to be able to open doors for other plus-size models into this industry by becoming a role model
Who is your inspiration in life Norka? How do you stay inspired as Model?
My inspiration in life is my mom she has gone through so much yet has fought and kept it going. I stay inspired as a model by working on my craft every day and by always looking into the positive side of every situation.
We all make mistakes Norka; we wish we could take back. What was the mistake you made in the past that you wish you can take back?
The only mistake I wish to take back would be, to not wait so long to re-discover myself by not just going for my life dreams.
Norka, How do you describe yourself regarding working with clients?
As far as working with clients I describe myself as an organized, dependable and outgoing model who will always strive to give my best for a great outcome.
Please tell us Norka, how do you prioritise work, social life, friends, and family?
My first and most important priority is family, then comes my commitment to work and responsibilities, then, of course, social life because the only way to keep a balance in your life is by interacting with your friends.
Norka, please give us an example of a time when you were able to successfully persuade someone to see things your way at work.
I work with adult students that are looking to expand their computer skills; we were faced with little space and too many students. My suggestion to the director was to change the schedule and incorporate different dates to have more space thus allowing students to continue with the requirements.
Norka, please tell us about your proudest professional accomplishment as a Model.
My proudest moment was when I got signed by EMG Models NY that was a huge stepping stone for me and being able to attend my first NY Fashion week casting.
Norka, please give us an example of a time you were able to be creative with your work. What was exciting or difficult about it?
I was chosen for a local magazine editorial, and the designer did not send in garments for me so out of my model bag I styled myself, and it was so exciting to see a great outcome with the pictures as I showed my style and my poses.
What advice would you give to the people who want to be successful as a Model?*
I would tell other models always to aim high and never give up on their dreams!
