I'm not a purist. At some point, I told myself that as a professional photographer, my work would get edited somewhere along the process. Which is why I thought I'd rather be the one to perform my touch-ups, for the images to remain faithful to my vision. My style is something that would fall into a "painterly" category.
Noel, what are your passion and aspiration in life? How did you start as a Photographer?
I loved seeing and discovering new things. Since childhood, I have had the passion of creating visual art, but it was not until college that I got to experience the thrill of photography. And not until I graduated that I got to experience doing the art regularly. When I did, and I have been photographing ever since.
Who is your inspiration in life Noel? How do you keep inspired?
I like drawing inspirations from film and the work of other photographers. I particularly like the visual style employed by Peter Jackson in the Lord of The Rings and The Hobbit trilogies. And then, there's the works of Elena Shumilova, Dan Winters and Benjamin Von Wong.
We all make mistakes Noel; we wish we could take back. Please tell us about time being a Photographer; you wish you’d handled a situation differently with a colleague.
Nothing comes to mind, although back when I first started out, (I was still doing events) we, did a shoot for a client, without a contract, and we also released the final materials without securing the payment. Endpoint, we ended up not getting paid.
Noel, when you’re working with a large number of clients, it’s tricky to deliver excellent service to them all. As a Photographer, how do you go about prioritising your clients’ needs?
Right now, I work alone, so I only accept a realistic amount of project in any given timeline, to ensure that the photos I deliver are the utmost top quality.
Please tell us, Noel, about a time you had to be very strategic to meet all your top priorities as a Photographer?
Nothing comes to mind regarding this topic.
Noel, please give us an example of a time when you were able to persuade someone to see things your way at work successfully.
I have not encountered this kind of situation yet.
Noel, please tell us about your proudest professional accomplishment as a Photographer. There might be many, but there is always this proudest moment that you just want to share with everyone. What is it and why?
The first time I got published in an online magazine was the proudest moment. Being in events, most of what I have been doing has gone largely ignored, since not a lot of people don't want their documentation photos edited. Though in the online magazine, there was a bit more of a leeway. Finally finding this niche where I could grow is my proudest moment.
Noel, please give us an example of a time you were able to be creative with your work. What was exciting or difficult about it?
We were shooting a nighttime portrait. Then it began to rain heavily. Instead of packing up and calling it a day, we decided that we were going to work with the rain, and we got some very amazing photos that night.
What advice would you give to the people who want to be successful as a Photographer?
Believe in your abilities as a photographer, although do not let it hinder yours from growing as a photographer. Keep shooting. Keep an open mind, and always keep an eye out for the wonderful things that unfold before us every day.
Are you looking for collaboration with fashion talents, brands and creatives? If yes, please state what type of collaboration you are looking for?
Yes. I am looking to collaborate with models, clothing and Make-up artists. I'd like to try my hand at shooting a more conceptual type of work.
