I graduated from Cosmoprof Academy, Diploma in Makeup Artistry. I also learned Asian Bridal Makeup and hairdo from the Master Makeup artist in Taiwan and China. I started as a freelance makeup artist in 2014. I do TVC shoots, bridal makeup, dinner and dance makeover, special effects makeup and pre-wedding photo shoots. I also do TFP shoots and collaboration with models and photographers.
Our readers would love to get to know you more Nicole. Tell us about yourself, what is unique about you, your brand or the services you offer?
I believe makeup is a powerful tool to enhance and bring out one's personality. I create makeup look based on the client's character. Therefore, each makeup I create is unique, because everyone is unique.
Nicole, what are your passion and aspiration in life? How did you start as a Make-up Artist?
I love art, and makeup is art. I like to make people look beautiful. Most importantly, I enjoy seeing the joy of my clients after putting makeup on them.
Who is your inspiration in life Nicole? How do you stay inspired as Make-up Artist?
I am inspired by Michelle Phan 10 years ago when youtube was still new. Her entrepreneurship and creativity inspired me to step out of my comfort zone and pursue my dream as a makeup artist.
We all make mistakes Nicole; we wish we could take back. What was the mistake you made in the past that you wish you can take back?
My biggest mistake was not to start as a makeup artist earlier.
Nicole, How do you describe yourself regarding working with clients?
Sincere, friendly and humble.
Please tell us, Nicole, how do you prioritise work, social life, friends, and family?
Work-life balance is essential to me. I am glad that as a makeup artist, I can spend quality time with my family.
Nicole, please give us an example of a time when you were able to persuade someone to see things your way at work successfully.
I persuaded a young lady to learn more about her culture and language. We were doing a photo shoot on Chinese Traditional Attire.
Nicole, please tell us about your proudest professional accomplishment as a Make-up Artist.
I was required to replace a makeup artist very last minute on a bride's big day. Time given was very limited. However I managed to accomplish the mission to doll up the bridal and make her look pretty. Most importantly, I was able to calm her down.
Nicole, please give us an example of a time you were able to be creative with your work. What was exciting or difficult about it?
During a TVC shoot, my curler had faulty while I was doing the hair setting for a talent. Without being panic, I immediately took out a brush with a large handle to curl the talent's hair, and use my flat iron to heat and set the curl. I thought that was created during the shoot.
What advice would you give to the people who want to be successful as a Make-up Artist?*
Resilience is the keyword!
