Travelling all over!

Nicki, what are your passion and aspiration in life? How did you start as a Photographer?

My future goals are to continue working with fashion brands to help drive their businesses. I would love to work with higher-end designers as well as the high street.

Who is your inspiration in life Nicki? How do you keep inspired?

I work one on one with my clients to find out more about their brand ethos, mission and target market. This gives me a clear indication of what kind of model I should be looking for and what locations would be suitable. We usually put together a joint Pinterest mood board with examples of poses and looks so when I shoot with the model; we already have a bank of ideas in our head.

We all make mistakes Nicki; we wish we could take back. Please tell us about time being a Photographer; you wish you’d handled a situation differently with a colleague.

Sounds cliche but I wouldn't change any of it. It has been the most amazing journey for me, and I am constantly learning from each shoot, from every editing session, from each bit of feedback I receive.

Nicki, when you’re working with a large number of clients, it’s tricky to deliver excellent service to them all. As a Photographer, how do you go about prioritising your clients’ needs?

My brother is my hero! He has been supportive in every aspect of my life. I clearly remember him telling me when I was a teenager going through a rebellious phase 'Don't do the bare minimum. Don't just be mediocre when you can do so much more.' This is something that stuck with me, and I have applied it to my work ever since.

Please tell us, Nicki, about a time you had to be very strategic in order to meet all your top priorities as a Photographer?

I took a course in Fashion Styling, and that was very useful. I learnt loads and enjoyed delving deeper into analysing styling and imagery; depending on the situation where that was personal styling, celebrity, set design, food styling and working in film, TV and theatre. Apart from that, I am fairly uneducated in terms of qualifications. I left education after my A levels and went straight into the workplace at Topshop. Since then I have run two clothing brands, worked as a stylist and visual merchandiser and now a photographer. I think courses can be very important to gain a clearer understanding of the industry however there is nothing that can replace on the job experience. I am a big advocate of self-growth, self-development and pushing yourself. You do not need to spend thousands on education to achieve greatness. We are lucky to live in the internet era where everything you would find in a university lecture is probably somewhere on Google.

Nicki, please give us an example of a time when you were able to persuade someone to see things your way at work successfully.

Get involved with any projects you can whether big or small. Look out for fashion shows, events, photoshoots you can get involved with. Even if it isn't directly the role you would like to have, you will learn so much by just surrounding yourself with other creatives. It will give you the opportunity to see how things work and ask questions. Contact people you admire whether they are a brand, MUA, photographer, bloggers etc. and offer to help or shadow them. Make yourself visible, available and indispensable to them; it will quickly lead onto paid work. Oh and NETWORK like your life depends on it :)

Nicki, please tell us about your proudest professional accomplishment as a Photographer. There might be many, but there is always this proudest moment that you want to share with everyone. What is it and why?

Nicki, please give us an example of a time you were able to be creative with your work. What was exciting or difficult about it?

What advice would you give to the people who want to be successful as a Photographer?

Are you looking for collaboration with fashion talents, brands and creatives? If yes, please state below what type of collaboration you are looking for?
