I'm a corny joke photographer, I love what I do, and I'd like to think it comes across in my images - I focused primarily on weddings and families but I started exploring into working with models, fashion and editorial work and I love every moment of it.
Nakeshia, what are your passion and aspiration in life? How did you start as a Photographer?
I would love to continue to be a beast of a photographer behind the camera, a great mom and a supportive wife to my husband. I'd love to travel and see the world, but that time will come when it comes. I've always been a goofy person so making people laugh, calming them down during hectic weddings and events came naturally.
Who is your inspiration in life Nakeshia? How do you keep inspired?
My kids inspire me - I wouldn't want them to grow up thinking that it's not okay to follow their dreams. I'm following and living out mine right now. I want to be supermom, I want to be supa er photographer, and sometimes I even manage to be supa er friend as well.
We all make mistakes Nakeshia; we wish we could take back. Please tell us about time being a Photographer; you wish you’d handled a situation differently with a colleague.
Sometimes I get nervous and probably say the wrong thing. I over think situations especially if they're new, but I don't regret I have to move forward to the next thing.
Nakeshia, when you’re working with a large number of clients, it’s tricky to deliver excellent service to them all. As a Photographer, how do you go about prioritising your clients’ needs?
I tell everyone I'm only one person, but I'll try to take care of everything that's needed If I forget something REMIND ME sometimes there's so much going on I can't focus, but that makes me human, so I'm Okay rolling with the punches.
Please tell us Nakeshia, about a time you had to be very strategic to meet all your top priorities as a Photographer?
I often start editing as soon as I get home. In my mind, I already have a vision for what I want, and I often won't sleep until It's finished. I've completed entire weddings within hours because I become extremely focused on the mission at hand. I often lose track of time, but until the project is finished, I can't successfully rest.
Nakeshia, please give us an example of a time when you were able to persuade someone to see things your way at work successfully.
My job is guiding people to a better position when I'm working with aspiring models, of course, I'm going to give them direction on posing, positioning, how to carry themselves, etc. My job is to make my vision and theirs come true. If they can't follow directions, It's going to be hard for them to be successful. People usually see things my way, and when they don't I'll stop what I'm doing, show them what they look like and how we can better achieve the common goal. It's about compromise.
Nakeshia, please tell us about your proudest professional accomplishment as a Photographer. There might be many, but there is always this proudest moment that you want to share with everyone. What is it and why?
Being praised for being myself. I have to admit I've cried reading client emails telling me how much they loved working with me, how much they love their images and how I captured moments that truly meant the most to them. It made me feel like I was on top of the world, but it humbled me in the same. I never want to disappoint.
Nakeshia, please give us an example of a time you were able to be creative with your work. What was exciting or difficult about it?
I'm always able to be creative with my work, but recently I did a 90's shoot and a friend, and I got ideas together, she went thrift shopping and found all the 90's inspired looks that she could pull off and I truly believe the photographs came out amazing. She looked like Aaliyah it was awesome and receptive on social media.
What advice would you give to the people who want to be successful as a Photographer?
Be yourself. People don't want to work with a cookie cutter personality. They want to work with unique, random, and different. If that's, you then don't change it. Don't work by what you think will sell. Do what you love, and I promise they'll come to you.
Are you looking for collaboration with fashion talents, brands and creatives? If yes, please state what type of collaboration you are looking for?
ALWAYS I love doing new things, going outside of my element and experimenting I can't say I'm looking for anything in particular, but I love being creative and nerdy.
