Our readers would love to get to know you more Missy. Tell us about yourself, what is unique about you?
I have a passion for the human body; how we function, what makes us sick, how to treat illness. This interest has always been one of mine and has directed me to where I am today. Currently, I am attending university to receive a degree in nursing. Along with inside the body and how everything connects, I am also intrigued by the creative world of art. Together I use my body as a canvas to display fashion in photographs or runways.
Missy, what are your passion and aspiration in life? How did you start as a Model?
I feel I connect well with the creative aspect of the world. I am drawn to fashion and unique markings or designs and ideas. As I often have inspiring thoughts of creativity, I also enjoy creating other people's inspirations. I am committed to building from ideas and being a part of the edge of the business.
I started with many compliments on my appearance that often suggested modeling as a career, this was something I was always interested in. Often I would joint in high school fashion shows, photo shoots, video productions, and live performances. Since I have modeled in few other photo shoots. This current year (2017) I attended Top Model Search Canada, at this event I was nominated 1st runner-up as Best Cover Model.
Who is your inspiration in life Missy? How do you keep inspired?
I take inspiration from the people I see around me every day. I use positive energy from people to motivate me. This may be on social media, friends, family, coworkers, or strangers. Each day I have a goal, even as simple as getting outside for a walk or going to see a loved one. I believe in keeping positive people and things around you.
We all make mistakes Missy, we wish we could take back. Please tell us about a time being a Model, you wish you’d handled a situation differently with a colleague.
While at Top Model Search Canada all of the models were in a runway show. As everyone was stressed one particular model was being very rude and had made sly comments. I was distracted by her negative energy and had made a personal judgment against her. The next day when the pressure was relieved, I had time to spend with the same model who was acting negatively. I was happy to spend time with her the next day as I got to know her better. I originally had made a harsh judgment on someone who was truly wonderful.
Missy, when you’re working with a large number of clients, it’s tricky to deliver excellent service to them all. As a Model, how do you go about prioritizing your clients’ needs?
I do not find it trickier when working with large amounts of people. Although there is a much higher demand for work, I feel a boost of energy and am able to prioritize well. Each job will have different circumstances, requests, requirements, and deadlines that must be taken into consideration when prioritizing. I use a technique of listing what needs to be done in an order that most sufficiently gets what's needs to be done.
Please tell us, Missy, about a time you had to be very strategic in order to meet all your top priorities as a Model?
I pride myself on being prepared for anything that may come my way. I also creativity use what I have to make the best of a situation for a positive outcome.
Missy, please give us an example of a time when you were able to successfully persuade someone to see things your way at work.
Missy, please tell us about your proudest professional accomplishment as a Model. There might be many, but there is always this proudest moment that you just want to share with everyone. What is it and why?
I was nominated as the first runner-up as Top Model Search Canada's Best Cover Model. I take pride in this as out of thousands that were cast and over 100 models in the competition, I was close enough to the title to even be nominated.
Missy, please give us an example of a time you were able to be creative with your work. What was exciting or difficult about it?
When shooting my photo shoot with Top Model Search Canada I was feeling very uninspired by the style options provided for my fashion outfits. Before deciding on an outfit I was okay with, I found a piece of clothing from the male wardrobe. This buttoned-up shirt was an accessory that I felt tried in my outfit. I then successfully completed the photo shoot with my photo being titled the 1st runner-up as Best Cover Model. This was exciting as I trusted my gut and made my own inspiration.
What advice would you give to the people who want to be successful as a Model?
The business in modeling never ends; find where you fit in & own it
Are you looking for collaboration with fashion talents, brands, and creatives? If yes, please state what type of collaboration you are looking for?
