I have at least one zillion hobbies. Tennis, badminton, sewing, making crafts.....I'm not happy unless I'm busy!
Melissa, what are your passion and aspiration in life? How did you start as a Photographer?
My love of photography started with wildlife, especially birds. I only considered taking photos of people after taking thousands upon thousands of bird photos!
Who is your inspiration in life Melissa? How do you keep inspired?
I stay inspired by always making time to get out and enjoy the quiet and solitude of nature.
We all make mistakes Melissa; we wish we could take back. Please tell us about time being a Photographer; you wish you’d handled a situation differently with a colleague.
I'm so new and thankfully have not had bad experiences. The only "take back" I would do is one client had a lot of ideas that I knew weren't going to work out. I should have said no, instead of wasting time and ending up with a whole bunch of unusable photos from the shoot. I learned from that experience and that I need to be the one in charge.
Melissa, when you’re working with a large number of clients, it’s tricky to deliver excellent service to them all. As a Photographer, how do you go about prioritising your clients’ needs?
The best course for photography I've taken is Lightroom. My editing is done very efficiently and because I know the program so well my turnaround time after a shoot is very short.
Please tell us, Melissa, about a time you had to be very strategic in order to meet all your top priorities as a Photographer?
I have to be strategic every day balancing a busy life as a mom of 3 children and a business owner. Lists, more list, and always be prepared!
Melissa, please give us an example of a time when you were able to persuade someone to see things your way at work successfully.
I can't think of one example as I hear I am a rather persuasive person. I think everyone wants their way of thinking heard and understood. If you're not listening to them, why should they listen to you?!
Melissa, please tell us about your proudest professional accomplishment as a Photographer. There might be many, but there is always this proudest moment that you want to share with everyone. What is it and why?
It's happened a few times, but I am always excited when one of my photos appears on Xplore on Flickr. Thousands upon thousands of views of something I did feel quite rewarding.
Melissa, please give us an example of a time you were able to be creative with your work. What was exciting or difficult about it?
Photography is a challenge for creativity. You want your photos to be special but not necessarily because they are outrageous. Sometimes an idea is very dependent on weather conditions or nature. When that bird does land on the head of the child at the perfect moment for a photo, it all pays off.
What advice would you give to the people who want to be successful as a Photographer?
Practice, every day and in a variety of situations. Force yourself to try things knowing you might fail at first.
Are you looking for collaboration with fashion talents, brands and creatives? If yes, please state below what type of collaboration you are looking for?
