Megane Pettini

Megane Pettini
Korea, South
State / Region

I started doing modeling by being randomly scouted in the street while I was going out from a pub. I had a few opportunities in the past which could have made me start my career earlier, but I always turned it down. At that time I was just a regular student who left her home country (France) to start a big adventure in South Korea. Then I started to do some makeup jobs, for Make Up Forever And Hera. Slowly I got a bit known and met some people who helped me to extend my experience to Commercials, Dramas, events, Music Video... doing that job and I wish that I can learn more and more, meet more and more people in the future.
I am a student in Media and journalism, but my dream is to launch my cosmetic brand. Doing modeling also made love beauty products on top of clothes.
As a model, I would say that I am still atypical. Indeed, I am covered by the “fashion industry”’s nightmare: tattoos. I do not necessarily show them but so far, and especially here in Korea it often has been an issue. I hope that tattooed people can be good models as much as totally “clean” ones and that tattoos do not indicate if someone is good or not. It is art, as much as fashion and according to me, it matches perfectly if the model had good taste when he or she got inked.
As a person I am both very professional and dynamic, I like to make the thing enjoyable for everyone because it is never easy and any opportunity is good to make every hard-working
I worked so far with Benefit, Air France, McDonald, Samsung, EA GAMES and many others. I enjoy.

Our readers would love to get to know you more Megane. Tell us about yourself, what is unique about you?

When people see me, they are usually astonished by my eye colors at first, as much as my skin quality. Then they often are very surprised how I match all the concepts I have to deal with, considering that I have many tattoos.
Then I would say that I am unique because I am so optimistic, enthusiastic about everything. I believe that there is nothing that I cannot do and challenges are what makes me work harder and harder. I am often called “happy virus” because I bring happiness and smile to any people I meet in the day.

Megane, what are your passion and aspiration in life? How did you start as a Model?

I love art, in all its forms. Whether it is visual, audio or it happens in people’s imagination, I enjoy art, and the process of creating something attracts me a lot. I love photography, which explains also why I love doing modeling, I am very sensitive to designs as well. I play the guitar, write... I just need it to feel at peace with myself!
I started modeling because of some fashion people who saw me in the street. I was with some friends, and they asked me to do some test shoot, and after thinking for a few days, I accepted. Chances always came to me somehow, a little bit like destiny.

Who is your inspiration in life Megane? How do you keep inspired?

The things which inspire me the most is people. First, the people I love, my family, friends, boyfriends... I want to help people, even if it is only with a smile. I also create by getting inspired by the experiences I have with people, or by imagining the reaction they would have. This is an inspiration which cannot find it ends because there are so many people who need a pinch of happiness in their daily life and I want to share whatever I can with those people.

We all make mistakes Megane; we wish we could take back. Please tell us about time being a Model; you wish you’d handled a situation differently with a colleague.
I did not have any bad experience so far (and fortunately). Even during castings I am friendly with everyone and make friends easily. Maybe this might be something I should refrain because I feel like they expect more competition rather than complicity in castings, and maybe it is the reason why I failed at some... I did not wear my cold-hearted attitude at that time.

Megane , when you’re working with a large number of clients, it’s tricky to deliver excellent service to them all. As a Model, how do you go about prioritizing your clients’ needs?

Usually, I try my best to please everyone. Sometimes because of some schedule issues I sadly have to make a choice and in that case, I go to the clients I worked with and had a good contact with. However, if it is only a question of tight schedule I would just penalize myself and reduce my sleeping hours. I always try to eat even small snacks to stay in shape, take care of myself fast and well and do the job. To me, work is first, and since I enjoy it I make all the efforts possible without being reckless

Please tell us Megane, about a time you had to be very strategic to meet all your top priorities as a Model?

I am usually very organized, so I do not feel like I am very strategic sometimes... However, it happened that I had a night shoot which ended at down and another one following the next morning. In that case, I did not sleep, came back home to take a shower, brought some makeup with me and left right away. That kind of situation happens quite often actually, and that is the reason why I always keep an entire survivor kit in my bag, including all my make up!

Megane, please give us an example of a time when you were able to successfully persuade someone to see things your way at work.
It happened a few times, but I do not remember needing to persuade anyone. Usually, when I have an idea which could match the project I thought about it well, and every time I talked about someone I mostly remember positive reactions... I imagine that I am a laconic person, so I intervene only when it seems worth it.

Megane, please tell us about your proudest professional accomplishment as a Model. There might be many, but there is always this proudest moment that you just want to share with everyone. What is it and why?
I still have a long way to go before feeling proud of anything. However, I would say that it is time I met some fashion industry people after working on my body for a few months. I had to lose some weight and work out, and usually, people never have to tell me something twice. I worked hard, lost a lot of weight and got a fit body, and I remember seeing those people so impressed that it was a small success to me. They called me passionate and ambitious, and this adjective sounded great to hear.

Megane, please give us an example of a time you were able to be creative with your work. What was exciting or difficult about it?
One day I have to organize with other models a kind of fashion show contest. We were all opposed to each other but still had to work as teams. I remember suggesting the songs and some “fantasy” to the show, and in the end, it looked so nice, and it made us look all so charismatic, even the models who still had some lack of confidence in front of others. The judge also praised us for the show, and because of it I also got selected for a bigger one.

What advice would you give to the people who want to be successful as a Model?

I think that it needs discipline, perseverance and a lot of hard-work to be successful as a model. We have to follow a conducting line to stay at our best and build a thick skin to face negative comments and casting fails. Also, I would like to tell people not to worry about failing castings, it does not necessarily mean that they are not good models. Sometimes it depends on tiny details, images, concepts... and it is easy not to match with what is searched when it is very accurate.
Also, it is not a good thing to compare ourselves to others, competition is a thing in the fashion industry but we remain all différents, and some models will naturally be skinnier, have sharper lines... We still all are beautiful and special in our way!

Are you looking for collaboration with fashion talents, brands and creatives? If yes, please state what type of collaboration you are looking for?
I would love to do new collaborations! Especially if it is related to Make Up (Because I enjoy it a lot and I know that I match very well in this area). Then I would love to work with clothing brands even though I have tattoos. I want to make all my hard work worth it through that!
