I love to try new things. I am one of those models that will work anything. No one wants to see the same thing over and over again. I switch it up. I think that it keeps it fun and fresh.
McKenzie, what are your passion and aspiration in life? How did you start as a Model?
I would love to turn to model into a career. It's something that I truly enjoy. I started out of pure curiosity. I wondered what it was like in front of the camera, instead of behind. I was a part-time photographer back home but soon realised that I liked being in front of the camera a lot more.
Who is your inspiration in life McKenzie? How do you keep inspired?
My husband and my mom. They are always keeping my spirits up and telling me to shoot for the stars. I don't know what I would do without them.
We all make mistakes McKenzie; we wish we could take back. Please tell us about time being a Model; you wish you’d handled a situation differently with a colleague.
I once wore an outfit that the photographer picked out, and it was hideous. I should've told him that I wasn't a fan of it because once the picture came back, it looked worse than I imagined.
McKenzie, when you’re working with a large number of clients, it’s tricky to deliver excellent service to them all. As a Model, how do you go about prioritising your clients’ needs?
Like I’ve said before, I try new things. I'm always up for trying new things. It builds a good portfolio. I love when photographers get ahold of me with new and different ideas.
Please tell us, McKenzie, about a time you had to be very strategic in order to meet all your top priorities as a Model?
Being on time and following the photographer's directions are the key to success. Listening to and working with the photographer on what they want you to will get you where you want to be.
McKenzie, please give us an example of a time when you were able to persuade someone to see things your way at work successfully.
I haven't had to persuade many people that I work with. I guess they are just very open-minded people.
McKenzie, please tell us about your proudest professional accomplishment as a Model. There might be many, but there is always this proudest moment that you want to share with everyone. What is it and why?
Singing with MSA Models of NYC has to be my proudest moment. Not only was I in NYC, but I signed with a primary modelling agency!
McKenzie, please give us an example of a time you were able to be creative with your work. What was exciting or difficult about it?
A photographer and I came up with an idea here in Alaska. We wanted to take liquid gold and shoot at a waterfall. So we did just that. We went to a nearby waterfall, covered me in liquid gold, and took pictures in and around the waterfall. It was exciting because it was something that neither of us had done before, and it was difficult because it was freezing. Most the water up here in Alaska is glacier/runoff water, so it's always very cold.
What advice would you give to the people who want to be successful as a Model?
Make goals and achieve them. Start small. Try new things.
Are you looking for collaboration with fashion talents, brands and creatives? If yes, please state below what type of collaboration you are looking for?
Absolutely! Fashion. Anything fashion.
