ABOUT
I am a very relax, very calm, easy going kind of person, but don't let this fool you because when I set my mind to working on a project, I do everything I can to make it work.

Our readers would love to get to know you more Maritza Eliane. Tell us about yourself, what is unique about you?

Every person is unique in his/her way, but I will say that I have a good instinct or six sense which I follow most of the time, with good results. I trust in the universe, and if it is meant to be, everything will fall into place easily and timely.

Maritza Eliane, what are your passion and aspiration in life? How did you start as a Photographer?

My passion and aspiration in life are to make a living doing what I love most: creating art.
I was into doing paintings and murals before as a hobby, but I fell in love with photography after seeing my daughter's wedding photographs. At weddings, you have the chance to create artistic shots, which people will cherish forever.

Who is your inspiration in life Maritza Eliane? How do you keep inspired?

I feel inspired by nature, colours and beauty.
I keep inspired by buying magazines to look at the new trends in fashion photography, I follow what I like and feels good to me but with my unique style.

We all make mistakes Maritza Eliane; we wish we could take back. Please tell us about time being a Photographer; you wish you’d handled a situation differently with a colleague.
I remember one time when I was at a fashion show, and a VIP person asks me to take a photo of his group. A male photographer came and blocked me off and almost push me aside. I was able to take a good photo of the group, but I still have one blurry photo with the hand of the photographer blocking my view. I wish I would have to stand up to him, and tell him how rude he was.

Maritza Eliane , when you’re working with a large number of clients, it’s tricky to deliver excellent service to them all. As a Photographer, how do you go about prioritising your clients’ needs?

Every client is equally important for me, but I work as a first come first serve mentality. I also take care in making very clear with my clients the delivery dates for the photography prints or art work, trying not to make promises that I can not deliver.

Please tell us Maritza Eliane, about a time you had to be very strategic to meet all your top priorities as a Photographer?

The majority of people think of photography as an easy and glamorous job, but as a photographer, you have to do your marketing, deal with your client, plan your photoshoot, get your crew, work on your shoot, retouch your photos, deliver them online, etc. In slow season you can do all of it just by yourself, but in a higher season, you have to hire the help of an assistant and a retoucher to help you to deliver the work to your clients on time.

Maritza Eliane, please give us an example of a time when you were able to successfully persuade someone to see things your way at work.
Sometimes I find it difficult to work with makeup artists. They have their ideas on how to do their job, or they want to use a product that is suitable for their regular clients but that I know from my own experience that it won't work in portrait photography. When I first started I learned it the hard way: many good photoshoots where ruined by the use of a wrong make up product, and I ended up having a hard time doing extra retouching. Now I always ask them to stay away from shimmers, highlighters, lip gloss or any products with SPFs. When they don't understand me, I show them examples of the good photos ruined by choice of a product. The key here is good communication before to start the photoshoot and find a reliable make up artist to partner with.

Maritza Eliane, please tell us about your proudest professional accomplishment as a Photographer. There might be many, but there is always this proudest moment that you just want to share with everyone. What is it and why?
I feel proud as a photographer every time a client wants to come back for a second or third session; it means that they value my job.

Maritza Eliane, please give us an example of a time you were able to be creative with your work. What was exciting or difficult about it?
The editorial photoshoot that I am presenting here: "The AL'AIN Fascination Couture" was one of the most creative and rewarding works of all. I was invited to a fashion show, and I fell in love with designer Annie Aan's ethnics designs, a few days later I contacted her, we agreed to make a collaboration photoshoot and together with my friends the make up artists Katiuska Flores and Candy Wheeler and four of Annie Aan's beautiful models made this possible. It was not difficult but labour intensive, I took individual and group shoots of them on the same day, but It was very exciting because everyone was super nice, cooperative, and pleasant to work with.

What advice would you give to the people who want to be successful as a Photographer?

For the people who want to be successful as a Photographer I will say that not only you need to learn how the camera works, you also need to learn about programs like Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom, learn about business, marketing, and social media as well, you have to keep studying, practicing and keeping up with the new cameras, equipment, modifiers and lighting systems that are out there new in the market every day, research them and get what you think will improve the quality of your photography.
