"So for me most challenging part of my profession is this time - when you have to choose the pictures, and you work on them in the computer."

Name: Marcin Borun

Location: Warsaw/Poland

Profession: Photographer

Email Address:

About: I've started to take pictures while I was studying journalism. My first job in photography field was in the local newspaper. Then I left the profession, and next years I worked in different jobs - as a seller in a shop, and later - in the office. During these years I was still taking pictures, but focused on studio works. Two years ago I decided to run my own career as an advertising photographer.
I shoot advertising, portrait, fashion, beauty and nudes.

Tell us something about yourself. What you do, passion and aspiration in life?: In my private life, I am the father of two girls. I live in central Poland. Except for photography which is my first and biggest love, I collect comic books (especially European style), and play FIFA game series.

In photography, I am trying to inspire myself through different sources. It changes every few years. Last time I love to look at movie series, and imagine how it was photographed ("The night of", has so beautiful pictures!!!)

Who is your inspiration in life? How do you keep inspired?: All these years I really enjoy watching at classical photographers - such like Jeanloup Sieff, Herb Ritts, Robert Doisneau and modern classics like Peter Lindbergh and Helmut Newton.

I am big fan of fashion magazines - my Master's Degree thesis was about magazines mock-up, and design. My collection of Vogue's, Marie Claire's, Numero's, and others have few hundreds of numbers.

What is the most challenging part of your profession?: I like a photoshoot. I like a time when I have my camera with me, and I direct pictures. It interests me much more than editing pictures in Photoshop. So for me most challenging part of my profession is this time - when you have to choose the pictures, and you work on them in the computer.

Give me an example of a time when you were able to successfully persuade someone to see things your way at work.: I am still working on this :)

Tell me about your proudest professional accomplishment.: My proudest professional accomplishments are before me :D

How old do you have to be before it can be said you died of old age?: I wish to have my golden years until I'd have the power to hold my camera. And have my powers to love photography until the end :)

If parents say, “Never take candy from strangers” then why do we celebrate Halloween?: I do not celebrate Halloween :P
