Mapoo. Tell us ABOUT yourself.
My journey in photography started in 2013. It was not intentional as I was looking for something that I can do aside from doing IT stuff. I chose to study photography as I was so curious why some of my friends are doing something on their camera before shooting things as I think that it is just as simple as clicking it and, viola, you have the picture on your camera. So I decided to explore what's in it, as I heard some of my friends talking about aperture, shutter speed and iso, and others things, which is unfamiliar to me and never been heard before :)
I bought an entry level camera and enrolled in photography, learned the basics, but it doesn't stop there as I was so curious, again, about lighting, and I found my self almost enrolling everything about photography and continue learning things and techniques, and so on.... And after six months of studying it, I was given an opportunity to shoot commercially, and the rest was history.

Our readers would love to get to know you more Mapoo. Tell us about yourself, what is unique about you?
I am Mapoo; I am from Manila Philippines. I started photography in 2013 when I took a break in my profession as an IT Consultant. At first, I just wanted to learn to operate my camera so I can take photos of my family and sceneries when we go on vacation, but maybe this is one of my callings, so I decided to continue to shoot and enhance my skills, and now, I do it as a profession too, shooting commercial and advertising projects.
Aside but doing a typical shoot on products and interior/exterior subjects, I do 360 also to make it more dynamic.
Mapoo, what are your passion and aspiration in life? How did you start as a Photographer?
At first, I was so confused about the things that need to be set when shooting a subject. I thought I only need to press that button and, viola, I captured and froze that moment, but my image was so different, way different, from what the other (experienced) photographers captured. We have the same subject, but their shots are way different from my shots. So I told to my self, this is not gonna happen, I must understand and study well how to set those things, and the rest was history.
I love delivering stunning photos for commercial and advertising as well as for my project, and it never stops since I entered the photography world.
Who is your inspiration in life Mapoo? How do you keep inspired?
Of course my family, my children, they are my inspirations in everything I do. They are the one who keeps me inspired.
We all make mistakes Mapoo; we wish we could take back. Please tell us about a time being a Photographer, you wish you’d handled a situation differently with a colleague.
Measuring lights are the things I always forgot when I am just starting in photography. Before, once I on the lights and shoot my subjects, I already forgot to measure lights every time we change layouts, and it cost us a lot in post processing. Measuring a light is a MUST in this field.
Mapoo , when you’re working with a large number of clients, it’s tricky to deliver excellent service to them all. As a Photographer, how do you go about prioritizing your clients’ needs?
Well, regarding delivery, I still believe that you can easily deliver great images when you were shooting something that inspires you. In the world of commercial and advertising, your clients are the one who lay down layouts. Things that are out of your control anymore, it's either those layouts inspire you or not. At first, I am having a difficult time absorbing layouts that don't inspire a lot, but I have already adjusted to the world of advertising. Before the shoot, clients will send you comprehensive layouts which include all the looks and mood of the images that they want, since it is sent ahead of time, you have all ample time to research and study the projects well, and this will help to inspire yourself to the project that you will do.
Regarding prioritizing clients, I haven't had yet an overlapping clients as I do proper scheduling of the projects that I will do. But when the time comes, and you need to select projects that I will do, I'll go for the one who inspires me a lot, so it will also reflect on my images and deliver what my client is expecting. Quality will make you win clients.
Please tell us Mapoo, about a time you had to be very strategic to meet all your top priorities as a Photographer?
Like what I've said, I do proper scheduling of my clients. I do check all the upcoming projects and do the first thing that I think inspires me a lot, so it will be easy for me to deliver what my client is expecting. And then move to the next one.
Mapoo, please give us an example of a time when you were able to successfully persuade someone to see things your way at work.
I don't argue with people verbally; I always do something that I believe is the right thing to do and show it to them, so it will be easy for me to explain things that are better and reasonable that what the other is saying. In that way, you can prove to them that your a solution is the doable and right thing to do as they will see it for themselves too.
Mapoo, please tell us about your proudest professional accomplishment as a Photographer. There might be many, but there is always this proudest moment that you just want to share with everyone. What is it and why?
Mostly are the images that I shoot personally as it is my time to express myself using my images.
Mapoo, please give us an example of a time you were able to be creative with your work. What was exciting or difficult about it?
Like what I've said, I am more creative when I do personal projects. Every time I shoot just for myself, I express and show my creativities.
What advice would you give to the people who want to be successful as a Photographer?
Always treat yourself as a student of photography. In this way, you will never stop learning and hone your skills as in this kind of field; there are no boundaries.
Are you looking for collaboration with fashion talents, brands and creatives? If yes, please state below what type of collaboration you are looking for?
Yes. I love to work with creative designers who have no boundaries regarding imaginations which we can both express in our outputs.
Now for the best part Mapoo! Please upload 5-10 photos so we can get to see your work.
