Well, Who is Makeeta Le Model you ask..I'm a chameleon of sorts I can adapt to any scenery.I am a more manifest, so I'm the one to bring forth the ideas.Ever since I was young, I knew I was a leader, not a follower. It started with My clothes lol. I was so small yet so long that I had to be a little more stylish that all the other little kids.On top of the fact since birth, I was groomed to be a model for my mother. She was a freelance model In France before I was born, so when I was born, she was teaching for runway shows and coaching.I use to sit watching mocking, mimicking and practising what I saw, dying to get on the runway. Then as a teen in the US, I found representation with an agency in DC Baltimore area was under them for a year and did a lot of print for cheer leading magazines and fashion shows for local departments stores. In doing so, my passion for FASHION in general grew. The Model life... Get beautiful, put on something that represents you and how you feel items weather designer or not and take fabulous pictures or walk this amazing catwalk giving your fiercest walk. THAT'S ME!! I just don't want it for the Glitz and Glam I want to be a representation that all models ( people in general) that cant gain weight.See I have ulcerative colitis, for the past 4 and a half years, so I get teased a lot about OH YOU THE ONE WHO EATS WATER! I want to show the world a great representation of a model through all adversities, teaching being a blessing to someone else and each one teaches one, building a non-profit to help young women come into women hood that protected way with real family or not. My life purpose is to help others with my natural given talents, Teach other from my adversities and mistakes and I plan on doing just that, with help from opportunities like this and much more.
So when you say tell me about you Makeeta your asking for an entire book that I can visually show you much better lol but to put it into terms we can all get I am a Model Citizen!
A model is a person with a role either to promote, display or advertise commercial products, or to serve as a visual aid for people who are creating works of art or posing for photography. Wikipedia
Our readers would love to get to know you more Makeeta. Tell us about yourself, what is unique about you?
I think what makes me unique is the fact that I'm a ball of creativity that I'm an all in one package. If you need me to create a look, I'm going to create it, and to the T. I'm some what of a perfectionist so I like to be well prepared but still free enough to free style for those awesome authentic moments.
Makeeta, what are your passion and aspiration in life? How did you start as a Model?
My passion in life it to be at peace with my life and where my journey leads me. My aspirations in life are to wake up every day doing my god given talents and helping/ teaching others and being able to provide for myself while doing it, modeling etc.
Who is your inspiration in life Makeeta? How do you keep inspired?
My inspiration is fashion, how creative it is, how unique it is.I know fashion repeats itself right... but tell me has it ever been the same when repeated...CREATIVITY!
I keep inspired by people watching, weather out in about, on TV, blogging, magazines, I watch people and what they wear.. see if it shows there facial expression or mood.If in season, or not and pull from there. I'm an adamant thrift store shopper so I love to recreate things I've seen on a runway for fashion week or they fly lady walking down park ave lol
We all make mistakes Makeeta; we wish we could take back. Please tell us about time being a Model; you wish you’d handled a situation differently with a colleague.
As a model, we all have had that photographer who didn't give you your prints. Doing TMP( Time for print) Well I went in on social media on how bad his service was and that I didn't get my pictures and how late he was and didn't have a ride home like took the low road. Long story short still didn't get my pics but learned that me coming out of my character like that was not a bad reflection on him and his business but me as a model and person. It was a self-evaluating moment, but it took way to long for it to come about.
Makeeta, when you’re working with a large number of clients, it’s tricky to deliver excellent service to them all. As a Model, how do you go about prioritizing your clients’ needs?
I always keep great communication with all my clients, letting them know what I'm available for and what I am not. I've learned in life you cannot do the working you not all well, so I have learned not to pull myself to thin, and still keep a great report within my clients and provide then with excellent service when we do work.
Please tell us Makeeta , about a time you had to be very strategic to meet all your top priorities as a Model?
I had three shoots in one day, and I really had to push it out, so I let the first client know that I need a sunrise shoot .. so I know i could get to bed early night before with all outfits garment bagged up and luggage packed to get up and go , so I could be done by 10 11 am to rest an hour and do a golden shoot 500pm to go straight to a Studio shoot from 7-9pm . A little time preparation organization skills and great communication goes a long way.
Makeeta , please give us an example of a time when you were able to successfully persuade someone to see things your way at work.
I'm one for an "Ill show you better than I can tell you" so when ever I come across those, within all rules and guide lines, I will create the issue, and resolve it out using my preferred method just to see what your thought are.If you like it, then it was even my idea ...It was all yours.
Makeeta, please tell us about your proudest professional accomplishment as a Model. There might be many, but there is always this proudest moment that you just want to share with everyone. What is it and why?
As of now my first publishing! It was in Maryland All-Stars, and I was 17 at the time.I got a check and a copy of the publication at the same time.I felt like I made it to the big times. For my next photo shoot to be a photographer that shot Tyra Banks and makeup artist for here!! I felt BIG TIME!!
Makeeta , please give us an example of a time you were able to be creative with your work. What was exciting or difficult about it?
Anytime I'm able to completely be me with no restrictions its magic!I was able to take an entire section of floor layout on year I was visual merch training.I was so scared I knew I wasn't ready, but once I got started, put my head phones on took the study guide and got in my zone, my manager put in a word for me to become her assistant that next day!
