I am an actress, trained vocalist, dancer, musician & model. I am a BFA Acting Major at Syracuse University in New York.
Madelyn, what are your passion and aspiration in life? How did you start as a Model?
I needed headshots for college, and the photographer asked my mom why wasn't I modelling? I plan to pursue tv/film upon my graduation from Syracuse University.
Who is your inspiration in life Madelyn? How do you keep inspired?
I have so many!! I am inspired by artists who bring honesty and vulnerability to their work. On stage, on set & creative photographer last who take the time to tell a story through their photography.
We all make mistakes Madelyn; we wish we could take back. Please tell us about time being a Model; you wish you’d handled a situation differently with a colleague.
There are times when a photographer and I don't share the same vision. The sessions are always creative and inspirational or me--but there have been a few times when it just feels like work.
Madelyn, when you’re working with a large number of clients, it’s tricky to deliver excellent service to them all. As a Model, how do you go about prioritising your clients’ needs?
I am lucky to have my mother help me coordinate my schedule. It's always a balancing act between college, home life and my work. My family supports me, and that's truly my inspiration.
Please tell us, Madelyn, about a time you had to be very strategic to meet all your top priorities as a Model?
I worked on a 9-hour shoot two years ago. That was most likely my most challenging project! A very talented photographer I worked with at ShutterFest in St. Louis in 2015 worked with me, a classic car company in VA & an MUA to create a Classic Car Calendar. The amount of collaboration, planning & executing was daunting for the ultimate presentation of twelve looks, with twelve cars, and I needed to stay alert, fresh and unique for each session. Long day!
Madelyn, please give us an example of a time when you were able to persuade someone to see things your way at work successfully.
I always establish a clear understanding of who I am as an artist before shooting. There needs to be a vision and a clear level of expectation. Once trust and clarity are established, the rest is art.
Madelyn, please tell us about your proudest professional accomplishment as a Model. There might be many, but there is always this proudest moment that you just want to share with everyone. What is it and why?
On July 26, 2017, I won Model Mayhem's Photo of the Day contest! I was shocked! That's not an easy task I've been told by numerous long-time Model Mayhemers!! Very proud to have won that contest.
Madelyn, please give us an example of a time you were able to be creative with your work. What was exciting or difficult about it?
I've used my vocal training to record songs and have had photographers create music videos as accompaniment. It's always a challenge putting myself out there with my singing. I feel most vulnerable when I sing. It's so technical, and I am always fearful of making a mistake. Acting and modelling are much more comfortable for me. It just seems natural and comes from my soul.
What advice would you give to the people who want to be successful as a Model?
Be true to yourself. Surround yourself with people you trust and never compromise your integrity. Never put yourself in a situation where art isn't the focus. Tell a story with your work and inspire others to become an artist.
Are you looking for collaboration with fashion talents, brands and creatives? If yes, please state what type of collaboration you are looking for?
I hope to continue working as a model while pursuing tv/film. I have acted in short films both on and off campus. I aspire to full-length feature films.
