I am the first in my immediate family to graduate from college, graduating with a bachelors degree in fine art concentrated in photography. I am also a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated.
M9, what are your passion and aspiration in life? How did you start as a Photographer?
My biggest goal is to be a highly recommended photographer with images placed on billboards across the world. I started photography just to get extra credits to graduate on time and happened to fall in love with film photography. My fascination with photography came from a small box with a hole in it that captured my first image.
Who is your inspiration in life M9? How do you keep inspired?
My inspiration in life is my mentor and the best photographer I know, Michel Demanche (Mz.D) and a very talented model Echo Manika. I remain inspired by travelling and going on random adventures in unknown areas.
We all make mistakes M9; we wish we could take back. Please tell us about time being a Photographer; you wish you’d handled a situation differently with a colleague.
I recall a time where I withheld useful tips that could have helped another photographer worried that they would make images like mine. But knowing what I know now I understand that each artist has their skill and we are all in this together.
M9, when you’re working with a large number of clients, it’s tricky to deliver excellent service to them all. As a Photographer, how do you go about prioritising your clients’ needs?
I prioritise my clients in the order the work is done. Each client receives my complete effort and skills no matter the project because the final product is also a representation of me.
Please tell us M9, about a time you had to be very strategic to meet all your top priorities as a Photographer?
To meet all of my priorities, not just the "top" priorities, things have to be sacrificed. Such as my time and extracurricular activities that will not help me get to where I plan to be in life.
M9, please give us an example of a time when you were able to persuade someone to see things your way at work successfully.
A client had the vision to represent himself the way they viewed another artist. But I convinced them that to be truly happy and successful with their work and remain happy and successful, that it is best to stay true to their art and create art from their heart. An artist work is better accepted, and last longer when comes purely from an artist and their creativity.
M9, please tell us about your proudest professional accomplishment as a Photographer. There might be many, but there is always this proudest moment that you just want to share with everyone. What is it and why?
My proudest achievement is being offered my first solo art show coming up in a few months. The feeling of another person wanting me to display my work to the world is very fulfilling.
M9, please give us an example of a time you were able to be creative with your work. What was exciting or difficult about it?
A client has asked me to take photos of the local area to use for their shop. I liked that they were open to me being as creative as I wanted to be just because they took an interest in my originality and imagination.
What advice would you give to the people who want to be successful as a Photographer?
My advice would be never to think a photo isn't good enough, never be afraid to display your work, and always be open to criticism (because it's always good to see the way others view your work).
Are you looking for collaboration with fashion talents, brands and creatives? If yes, please state what type of collaboration you are looking for?
Yes, I am interested in collaborating with any and all talents and brands and anyone creative! I love working with someone as inspired and creative as me or even more. It makes the project so much more enjoyable.
