Alright, now for the interview! Firstly Luca, how would you best describe yourself?
Photographer

Our readers would love to get to know you more Luca. Tell us about yourself, why you are passionate about what you do, and your journey so far.
Photography to me is not a way to document reality, but more the way in which I can suspend reality, with all its physical and societal rules, and turn everything into my dream of it. I love working with complex lights and low light, both in the studio and in the open. My favourite subjects are portraits which tell dream-like stories; places which seem daydream scenarios; and surrealistic concepts created in my studio.
My view of the world has been seriously affected by “dreamers” like David Lynch, David Cronenberg, and Federico Fellini, with their ability to transmit the distinct and uncomfortable feeling of not being really awake.Photography to me is not a way to document reality, but more the way in which I can suspend reality, with all its physical and societal rules, and turn everything into my dream of it. Keep interviewing me!

What are your goals and how do you see yourself progressing in the field Luca?
My goal is to grow and establish my stylistic view and to apply it to fashion, art, and eventually movies. I would like to work on big and complex sets like Gregory Crewdson!

How do you communicate with people Luca? Are you patient? Are you friendly? How open are you to clients’ requirements?
I am very, very patient, and extremely friendly. I'm always open to my clients' requirements, but at the same time, I try hard to understand what it is that they REALLY want, what are the underlying constraints and requirements, so that I can eventually help them figure out the best approach to fulfil their checklist while guaranteeing an optimal result.

If you had to do it over again, what would you change Luca?
I would study fashion photography instead than getting a degree and a PhD in Biomedical Engineering! Right now I'm extremely overqualified on the technical aspects, but I am struggling in developing a network with stylists, photo editors, and curators.

Who is your hero Luca, and how have they helped you get to where you are?
My hero is my father for his persistence in work. I had serious problems with persistence as a kid, but the inevitable feeling of inferiority (I'm the first born and only male of his sons) had pushed me working until I got (I believe) a grip on it.

How important are creative education courses Luca? Have you taken any, and did you find them useful?
They can't teach you creativity, unfortunately, that is something you need to be born with. But they can tremendously help when I'm stuck (creatively speaking). I have taken a few workshops, and they always managed to open new lines of inspiration.

Do you have any tips for someone who is just starting out in the industry?
Try to get to a good school. One that not only teaches properly all the technical aspects (which I don't think is that common, actually), but also introduces the students to the high-level network of creative directors, photographers, photo editors, curators, and stylists. Because without them a photographer can only create that much.

Now for the best part Luca! Please upload 5-10 photos so we can get to see your work.

Please add any photo credits for the photos you uploaded so that everybody can get recognised.
