Naturally, I love taking pictures; I love smiling on life. I've been modelling my whole life and letting my personality live out loud. It is who I am inside and out and who I've been my entire life. Professionally I have not been modelling that long. However, I am coming into my own and developing with each shoot.
LaMildredetta, what are your passion and aspiration in life? How did you start as a Model?
A really important person in my life decided that he wanted to venture out and take a shot at photography. Being the person I am, I feel that I have a responsibility to encourage the people I love and aide them in any way I can to help them reach success. My friend being new to his craft couldn't get anyone to shoot with him at the time, so I decided that I was going a step up. Before this, I had done some work in the past and enjoyed it. However this experience was different. His ability to capture me in a way that no one had ever done before inspired me. I have a great passion for art which gave me the courage and inspiration to create some amazing and daring shots. Ultimately, what started out as a desire to help lead me to a new appreciation for art, a passion to be someone's canvas and in a new direction in life. My pathway into modelling may be different from that of a traditional model. Nevertheless, the passion I have for pursuing this dream is burning very bright inside of me. When I'm in front of the camera, the fire I feel inside of me gives me the courage to own the shoot. Someone once said if you do what you love, then you'll never work another day. For me being in front of the camera is just that. It is my way of loving life and working it in my way.
Who is your inspiration in life LaMildredetta? How do you keep inspired?
I am inspired by the beautiful dark skinned model Khoudia Diop, who may not have a name that everyone knows, who was probably told that she was not light enough or pretty enough for this industry but dared to show the world that her dark skin is beautiful. Her courage inspires me because she is reassuring to dark skinned girls around the world that they are beautiful in their very own skin. However, I am inspired by any woman how defies the "idea" of beauty and is a bold statement for breaking barriers.
We all make mistakes LaMildredetta; we wish we could take back. Please tell us about time being a Model; you wish you’d handled a situation differently with a colleague.
So far, I've been lucky enough to work with great people who've been able to communicate what their vision is and for me to tell them what my vision is as well.
LaMildredetta, when you’re working with a large number of clients, it’s tricky to deliver excellent service to them all. As a Model, how do you go about prioritising your clients’ needs?
The organisation is the key; my greatest strengths are my tenacious appetite and an unrelenting desire for success. I may not get much sleep, but I get it done (meaning everything on my plate is completed to the absolute best of my ability and beyond expectations). My drive is the thing that allows me to balance being everything to everyone; it is the thing that allows me to be successful in each role and the thing that will not let me give up.
Please tell us LaMildredetta, about a time you had to be very strategic to meet all your top priorities as a Model?
I have all outfits laid out a week before the shoot. I know what we are shooting first and what look I need to have before the camera comes out of the bag.
LaMildredetta, please give us an example of a time when you were able to persuade someone to see things your way at work successfully.
Due to my organisational skills, it is very easy for me to lay out all the details to people I'm working with. I've successfully helped run my son's flag football, basketball, and soccer teams for a few years now.
LaMildredetta, please tell us about your proudest professional accomplishment as a Model. There might be many, but there is always this proudest moment that you just want to share with everyone. What is it and why?
My first professional shoot. We created amazing images. I could hardly believe it was me on the camera.
LaMildredetta, please give us an example of a time you were able to be creative with your work. What was exciting or difficult about it?
My last shoot was extremely exciting because I got to go to Downtown Dallas and just have fun and make the city my canvas.
What advice would you give to the people who want to be successful as a Model?
Embrace criticism/critiques, don't view those comments as negative, instead grow from feedback. Never think you know so much that you cannot accept advice and tips from others. Always be willing and eager to learn. Most of all are confident in yourself and don't be afraid to push the envelopes. Be comfortable with being yourself uniquely you
Are you looking for collaboration with fashion talents, brands and creatives? If yes, please state what type of collaboration you are looking for?
Yes. I would love to do a shoot with exotic animals and an underwater shoot. Most importantly, continue to grow as a model.
