Something unique about me is that I love constructive criticism. I am always open to hearing what I can do to make something better. Aside from this, another unique thing about myself it that I love driving stick shift cars! My first car was a manual car, and I honestly prefer it over an automatic vehicle. Lastly, something that I love working with is Fashion. I love changing my style and experimenting with new ones. Fashion honestly inspires me, and I love how it influences the modelling world.
Kyria, what are your passion and aspiration in life? How did you start as a Model?
I started modelling with JC models in CT, and they are amazing. I have learned so much from them this past year and also received so many great opportunities. My passion in life does lie with modelling. Since I was 14 I dreamed of becoming a model but, I did not have the support to get into it. I still do not lose hope though, as soon as I was able to sign for myself and pursue modelling on my own I jumped into it. Everyone should live the life they dream I believe; the simple secret is just never to give up.
Who is your inspiration in life Kyria? How do you keep inspired?
My inspiration in life is for sure Vogue. I have always loved Vogue even before modelling. I have so many books that share the Vogue history and evolution and each time I read it I become inspired. As for people, I am greatly inspired by my top role models in the modelling field such as Taylor Hill, Karlie Kloss and GiGi. I also stay inspired by always setting goals and achieving them.
We all make mistakes Kyria; we wish we could take back. Please tell us about time being a Model; you wish you’d handled a situation differently with a colleague.
Since I am pretty new to the modelling field, I have not experienced a bad situation with a colleague. In my eyes treating everyone how you want to be treated is the best way to avoid situations like this.
Kyria, when you’re working with a large number of clients, it’s tricky to deliver excellent service to them all. As a Model, how do you go about prioritising your clients’ needs?
In modelling, you always want to have a good relationship with everyone that you are working with. If I commit to a client for a modelling job, then that means no matter what I am going to fulfil that job. Even if I am offered a more beneficial job after I will still keep my word to the first client and kindly explain why to my second client. This never has a bad outcome. People always appreciate it when you keep your word, this to me is the easiest way to prioritise your clients and make sure that you are still delivering the best service.
Please tell us Kyria, about a time you had to be very strategic in order to meet all your top priorities as a Model?
Working full time and going to school full time means I have to do a lot of strategic planning. I always have my days planned out but, even then it is possible that I my modelling may interfere. Since modelling is one of my top priorities, I always do my best to accommodate any special requests. By planning everything in advance, I am able to do everything that I need to, and it is rare that I may have to cancel or change something.
Kyria, please give us an example of a time when you were able to persuade someone to see things your way at work successfully.
Since I am an assistant manager at Swarovski, one of my responsibilities is to make sure that everyone is on the same page and that we agree. At work, if there is ever a time where I have to try to persuade someone I always listen to their reasons and what they think first. I always let them know that I understand and respect their views, but sometimes things have to be done a certain way. Just a calm understanding conversation has always been enough for me to persuade my colleagues in a successful positive way.
Kyria, please tell us about your proudest professional accomplishment as a Model. There might be many, but there is always this proudest moment that you just want to share with everyone. What is it and why?
One of my proudest moments so far as a model has been getting chosen for the 2018 IMTA competition. Although this competition has not happened yet, I still consider it a great accomplishment alone just by being booked. I am expected to do a lot of training starting in January, and I could not be more excited!
Kyria, please give us an example of a time you were able to be creative with your work. What was exciting or difficult about it?
A time when I was able to be creative with my work was when I was able to incorporate my modelling and photography with school. Last semester I had a final project that consisted of making your own website. Luckily for me, my professor had given me the okay to create my website solely on myself. Here I was able to work on my modelling, photography and school all at the same time. I was also able to showcase myself and my work to a great audience. This is honestly the top favorite project that I have ever done.
What advice would you give to the people who want to be successful as a Model?
My top advice for anyone wanting to pursue modelling or any dream, in general, is never to give up. Always remaining focused is key and it will always get you somewhere. Do not be afraid to have someone tell you what you are doing wrong or what you can improve because it will only help you. Be open to all new things and always take a chance!
Are you looking for collaboration with fashion talents, brands and creatives? If yes, please state below what type of collaboration you are looking for?
I am always open to new projects and collaborations. My top wish for collaborations would be with Vogue or any top fashion magazine. I would also love to do a fashion collaboration with any of my favourite brands such as cotton on, PacSun, free people or a banana republic.
