I am a freelance model with a goal to show the next generation that you can be plus sized and still be beautiful in such a highly competitive industry. I enjoy a vast array of artistic concepts from fashion portraiture, to dark and gritty. As a heavily tattooed woman, I also love being able to showcase the images on my skin in my photos, may not be for everyone but art is subjective.
Our readers would love to get to know you more Krystal. Tell us about yourself, what is unique about you?
I have two cats named Simon and Garfunkel, a small collection of hand crafted miniature skulls, and a coffin-shaped bookcase. I enjoy kayaking and hiking with my husband, and reading a storybook to my daughter.
Krystal, what are your passion and aspiration in life? How did you start as a Model?
Modeling started the second I read a little thing about a woman complaining about all her flaws in front of her young child and saw how they negatively impacted her outlook on herself, I want to show my daughter that you don't have to have a small waist and large bust to be a beautiful person, as long as you have a kind heart your beauty will shine through.
Who is your inspiration in life Krystal? How do you keep inspired?
I stay inspired by my increase in self-esteem, and the drive to always learn new things and improve myself as a human being.
We all make mistakes Krystal; we wish we could take back. Please tell us about time being a Model, you wish you’d handled a situation differently with a colleague.
I wish I had been more persistent about a mood I wanted to portray during a shoot. The results came out great in the end, but it wasn't the intent I was wanting.
Krystal , when you’re working with a large number of clients, it’s tricky to deliver excellent service to them all. As a Model, how do you go about prioritizing your clients’ needs?
All clients are important, so I prioritize sessions and meetings based on critical need. If someone needs the look that I have as soon as possible, then I put them as a top priority.
Please tell us, Krystal, about a time you had to be very strategic to meet all your top priorities as a Model?
To pay for some portfolio addition images, I had to cancel my spot in a group shoot in which the images I'd have received would have been a personal gift to someone.
Krystal, please give us an example of a time when you were able to successfully persuade someone to see things your way at work.
One time at work my coworker was in complete denial of a process I had thought up to get things done until I had written it down in order of things to show her how much less stressful it would be.
Krystal, please tell us about your proudest professional accomplishment as a Model. There might be many, but there is always this proudest moment that you just want to share with everyone. What is it and why?
It seems silly but my proudest moment was when I was allowed to model some hand crafted jewellery made by a wonderful friend of mine.
Krystal, please give us an example of a time you were able to be creative with your work. What was exciting or difficult about it?
My last photo shoot was in the snow, outside of a run-down brick building and it was so much fun! I was given so much creative freedom and the images that resulted look great.
What advice would you give to the people who want to be successful as a Model?
Don't stop pushing yourself, don't give up. It can take time if you are freelance, but it is worth it.
Are you looking for collaboration with fashion talents, brands and creatives? If yes, please state what type of collaboration you are looking for?
I would love to collaborate with Parasite Eve Designs; those designs are simply breathtaking in my opinion. So much detail work put into them.
