Something unique about myself is that I am a stock trader, I have been learning to trade stocks with reading books, attending conferences and mostly online research. I am also a very big believer in researching before getting involved with any new obstacle.
Karina, what are your passion and aspiration in life? How did you start as a Model?
My passion in life can live for something bigger than myself. I went through a stage from child to adult who was very difficult to pass because I didn't know how to be independent, strong and wise. I also didn't have someone I could reflect off of to guide me. Every time I would find myself confused, in situations. When I finally meet a great mentor and attended more church, it was easier as I was being guided, but I noticed none of them where women and I started working as a modelling teacher. My passion came about to be the women I needed as a girl. I started to get more involved with modelling, becoming more knowledgeable. This is how I started to take it seriously, I studied modelling when I was 14 years old but didn't have a passion for it. Currently, I am still on that journey to becoming more experienced in modelling, so one day I can influence a generation.
Who is your inspiration in life Karina? How do you keep inspired?
God! I don't have a religion, but a relationship. If I had to pick between people, I would have to say it would be everyone, including my family and friends because I can learn something from everyone. But my closest friends and family bring both supportiveness and humility, something hard to find from people outside my life to have both.
We all make mistakes Karina; we wish we could take back. Please tell us about time being a Model; you wish you’d handled a situation differently with a colleague.
It was when I was teaching I came in late for the second time, this is always something I never want to happen. After speaking to my director of education I apologised and took charge of how I would have to start preparing myself more in the morning and even wrote a letter to the company.
Karina, when you’re working with a large number of clients, it’s tricky to deliver excellent service to them all. As a Model, how do you go about prioritising your clients’ needs?
Depending on the situation, I will prioritise my clients by analysing the outcome of the clients. Maybe whose closest, which will be done quicker, but overall I would ask my agency or anyone who would help solve this. If I can't ask, just like a restaurant serves, first come first goes.
Please tell us, Karina, about a time you had to be very strategic to meet all your top priorities as a Model?
Every day as a model I think I have to be strategic, modelling requires hard work, and ambition just like any other career.
karina, please give us an example of a time when you were able to persuade someone to see things your way at work successfully.
Because I also work at a pizzeria, there have been many times. The most current one was when we decided to open the restaurant during hurricane Irma. I gathered everyone up and had a meeting with a team to divide the job evenly to be more effective with current inventory. The trick was to be a leader, not the boss.
Karina, please tell us about your proudest professional accomplishment as a Model. There might be many, but there is always this proudest moment that you want to share with everyone. What is it and why?
Reaching front cover
Karina, please give us an example of a time you were able to be creative with your work. What was exciting or difficult about it?
I think every photoshoot is exciting and difficult, but working with others and getting their honest reaction to get the shot they are looking for is key for me.
What advice would you give to the people who want to be successful as a Model?
I would say to be willing to take this as a life challenge to discover yourself, self-reflect is a positive way to being that person you always wanted to meet.
Are you looking for collaboration with fashion talents, brands and creatives? If yes, please state what type of collaboration you are looking for?
Yes, I would like to be part of a brand that shows how wonderful it is to be a model, and even the small town girl can make it.
