What's Unique is my background and sense of belonging and Art
Jermaine, what are your passion and aspiration in life? How did you start as an Illustrator?
It started when I was sick with cancer during my childhood. I use to get so Happy looking at the classical Disney Animation Posters as well as watching power rangers, which led to Anime such as DBZ and Yu Yu Hakusho. My goal in Life life is to have my Studio for Film/Animation and being back the classics
Who is your inspiration in life Jermaine? How do you keep inspired?
My Inspiration oh that's long. I would say a few people specifically who inspire me are Will Smith, Johnny Depp, The Duffer Brothers who Created Stranger Things, James Cameron, Ridley Scott, Brian Yorkey 13 Reasons why down to the classics such as Akira Toriyama who Created DBZ, Studio 4C in Tokyo, Illustrator Tanaka Tatsuyki, Kim Jung Gi. I keep inspired by looking online and finding stuff to push me, a big show currently I would say that is doing that for me as of Now is Game of Thrones. That can keep me pushing and make me want to figure out my Universes more and more
We all make mistakes Jermaine; we wish we could take back. Please tell us about time being an Illustrator; you wish you’d handled a situation differently with a colleague.
I at times can speak out of character. I forget that presentation is key. An example of this is with a recent client I got aggressive about a payment. Though it ended with a happy ending, I wish I was nicer
Jermaine, when you’re working with a large number of clients, it’s tricky to deliver excellent service to them all. As an Illustrator, how do you go about prioritising your clients’ needs?
I usually won't take on a lot of work unless I know I can handle it.
Please tell us, Jermaine, about a time you had to be very strategic to meet all your top priorities as an Illustrator?
I make sure things are done when they need to be.
Jermaine, please give us an example of a time when you were able to persuade someone to see things your way at work successfully.
This is tricky. I learned a lesson from my father from 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. If two people look at a scribble of a lady. One says she is old another young. The basis of an argument though in actuality there is no right or wrong. Emotions get in the way of that and cloud judgement. You must interpret that person's point of view and reevaluate your point, so both parties win. Though you secretly won because you set the end of the argument in motion. Arguments of back and forth are checkers. Interpreting the person's movements and winning the game is Chess. Play Chess.
Jermaine, please tell us about your proudest professional accomplishment as an Illustrator. There might be many, but there is always this proudest moment that you just want to share with everyone. What is it and why?
Proudest moment is me creating a Concept concept art piece that looked exactly how I envisioned it.
Jermaine, please give us an example of a time you were able to be creative with your work. What was exciting or difficult about it?
When creating a comic for my Tv Series Pitch. I was at my most creative during that time.
What advice would you give to the people who want to be successful as an Illustrator?
Have your vision.
Are you looking for collaboration with fashion talents, brands and creatives? If yes, please state what type of collaboration you are looking for?
Yes. I would love to create art concepts and illustrations. As well as collaborate on concepts for me for modelling. Maybe traditional tribal make-up concepts similar to Lion King or an Egyptian Look.
