I'm a model by profession but what's truly unique about me is who I am and what I represent. I'm an aspiring humanitarian. My goal in life is to help people reach there fullest potential in life so they can reach their highest purpose which is the reason we were all put on this earth. I am very spiritual, and I believe we all have a purpose and reason for being on this earth. And I believe apart of my purpose is to help people heal and recognise theirs. For as long as I can remember I knew that I was different. My mother would always tell me how weird and different I was as a very young child. She said people would speak to me and I would often times not respond and instead look right through people as if they weren't there. But as I tell my mother today, it wasn't that I was looking through people its I could feel peoples energies and moods. I could sense when people were happy, sad, mad etc. even when they are trying to portray something different to the outside world. This would affect me and my mood as I would absorb the energy of people around me and back then I had no idea how to deal with those feelings nor did I truly understand them myself or even felt comfortable enough to share them when I couldn't truly comprehend them myself. I loved being around people, but on the other hand, I enjoyed my solitude because of those strong feeling I felt when I was around people. But as I grew older, I became very social and had many different and diverse friends from all walks of life and often times I would find myself playing counsel, confidante and peacemaker to my friends and family. In fact, I've always felt inexplicably compelled to help others as if it was my silent obligation to do.
Consequently helping and healing others is where I get the most satisfaction and feel the most complete. So for as long as I can remember I knew that my ultimate purpose in life was to sanction the healing of others and help them attain there highest purpose in life. It irrefutably feeds my soul to actually make a difference in someone’s life and help alleviate fear to make way for greatness. So I know what my highest purpose in life is, to endorse and see healing in the world on a large scale thusly promoting human welfare. Aspiring humanitarian I know I am a born, but I am also aspiring humanitarian. Both are very similar. The definition of a humanitarian is a person who seeks to promote human welfare and that’s exactly what I hope to do on a global scale. My goal is to be a philanthropist of sorts, but I really want to reach people by nourishing and developing the soul and really help transform lives.
Jazmine, what are your passion and aspiration in life? How did you start as a Model?
I have been a model for as long as I can remember growing up but I didn't start professionally until 2015he world one picture at a time. Every since I can truly remember I’ve always been a model in my head lol and it has always been a huge passion of mine. I loved being in front of the mirror posing and playing dress-up going into my mother’s closet and putting on her heels walking down the hallway pretending it was my runway, playing in her makeup and nail polish, whilst taking selfies of myself on Polaroid cameras before the term selfies was coined or cameras on phones ever existed! Moreover, I’ve always had an affinity for creative arts and being in front of the camera. So while modelling has always been a thing that’s been innate since childhood, it wasn’t until 2015 that I really decided to pursue it professionally. I thought hey I’ve been doing this all my life why not do it professionally make a career for myself. But my true passion in life is to inspire and help others. I want to be a humanitarian and help mankind on a global scale. I want to really make a difference and inspire others to be their best selves.
Who is your inspiration in life Jazmine? How do you keep inspired?
My inspiration in life is my son and family. My son is my life he everything to me and the reason I breathe and Family is absolutely everything to me they teach me every day that life is precious and short and worth living because of them. A huge part of my inspiration and what keeps me inspired is my little brother. He passed away in 2016, and it was and still is the most devastating thing that's ever happened in my life. My family is very close, and his death really shook my very core, but it also inspired me to live my life now! His death gave me a new purpose a new outlook it forever changed me but for the better because it made me realize how time is on Noone side and I have to actually live because for so long I felt like I was living, but I wasn't ALIVE, so he inspired me to do better and keeps me inspired every single day and gives me the strength to keep striving for success every day.
We all make mistakes Jazmine; we wish we could take back. Please tell us about time being a Model; you wish you’d handled a situation differently with a colleague.
There was a time where I wish I had a different attitude towards a potential client that I could have worked with. It was when I first started modelling I sent my pictures I'm to this casting company the director emailed me back asked for pictures where I was smiling because the pictures I sent it looked like the blue steel look. Well, I didn't know what that meant so upon doing some research I learned that was a term from a movie called Zoolander which I took offence too, and let him know. He immediately put me on my place about how to present myself with potential clients and what kind of attitude not to have because even if I didn't get that casting, it was possible he would have others that I could have missed my chances with by reacting too quickly and having an attitude. Anyway, I learned my lesson and take all criticism or comments in stride now. Never will happen again
Jazmine, when you’re working with a large number of clients, it’s tricky to deliver excellent service to them all. As a Model, how do you go about prioritising your clients’ needs?
I am very organised and take a lot of pride in my work and making the client happy. So while it can get really busy and maybe overwhelming sometimes, I'm always able delivery top quality service to whomever I'm working with because it's very important in this business to be on time and get the job done with right especially with how competitive this industry is it's very easy to get another lol. So it's very important to stay organised and on top of your schedule
Please tell us, Jazmine, about a time you had to be very strategic in order to meet all your top priorities as a Model?
There was a time where I nearly overbooked myself and had three jobs in 1 day. I had a photoshoot a video shoot and fashion show. I was very lucky the fashion show was last, but I almost did not make it. I had to go to my photoshoot her at 8 am the video shoot at 11, but I had to leave a bit way to make it to the 2 pm fashion show, so I was very lucky that day.
Jazmine, please give us an example of a time when you were able to persuade someone to see things your way at work successfully.
At time where I was able to persuade someone was when I was doing a photo shoot and the client wanted me to wear these really not so great shoes with this dress I was modeling and I knew the shoes I had matched better, so I told them how the shoes I had brought out the colour of the dress more and convinced them to let me take a pictured with both and see how it looked long story short mine looked better and they saw that.
Jazmine, please tell us about your proudest professional accomplishment as a Model. There might be many, but there is always this proudest moment that you want to share with everyone. What is it and why?
My proudest professional moment as a model was when I got picked to model for JCPenny activewear line on television. I was so excited only to be modelling for a big brand like JCPenny but to be on local television was a huge accomplishment for me. A lot of models tried out so to actually get it gave me so much confidence in myself and hope for better things
Jazmine, please give us an example of a time you were able to be creative with your work. What was exciting or difficult about it?
At a time where I was able to get creative is when I did a shoot in water at a lake. It was difficult because I was in the lake and standing on a rock with heals trying to balance and not fall in the lake whilst trying to pose. So that was very difficult to pose on a rock in a dress with heels and not fall. It was challenging, but I got it done.
What advice would you give to the people who want to be successful as a Model?
I would tell aspiring models never to give up. To do your research on people and always be safe never go anywhere alone especially when your first starting out because there are a lot of creeps out there. So to always be careful number one and to keep trying because modelling is very hard and competitive and a lot of people will say no, but all you need is one good yes to really give you that boost of confidence and even if they do say no to keep your head up no matter what. Got to develop a thick skin in this business as well.
Are you looking for collaboration with fashion talents, brands and creatives? If yes, please state below what type of collaboration you are looking for?
I'm looking to collaborate with as many people as I possibly can from brands to creatives other models etc. I believe it's very important to network and connect with as many people as possible and get the exposure and experience.
