What is unique about me, I think every person is unique, but the fact that I can connect to my emotions makes me unique. It shows in my photographs and my acting. I love being able to get the emotions across
Jay-Donell, what are your passion and aspiration in life? How did you start as a Model?
I started as a model after my first acting job. We needed to get some casting pictures done, and I loved it so much that after that I took up modelling, according to the photographers I worked with up till now I have a very strong look. I hope to be able to model for a long, long time to come
Who is your inspiration in life Jay-Donell? How do you keep inspired?
My inspiration is my family. My mom, dad and my brother Jerrelson. He is a big example for me; he is a hard worker and a very cool brother. We are a very close-knit family, and we always have each other's back.
We all make mistakes Jay-Donell, we wish we could take back. Please tell us about time being a Model; you wish you’d handled a situation differently with a colleague.
Well, I am still very young. And I don't think I have many any mistakes like that yet. BUT, I still have time, I am sure that I will make some mistakes in future.
Jay-Donell, when you’re working with a large number of clients, it’s tricky to deliver excellent service to them all. As a Model, how do you go about prioritising your clients’ needs?
Communicating is very important. When I am hired by a client, we always have a conversation about what is expected of both me and the client. I think that is important, to stay honest and in contact with each other.
Please tell us Jay-Donell, about a time you had to be very strategic to meet all your top priorities as a Model?
I guess this was when I went for my audition for my role in the American movie Domino. ( so for my acting, not my modelling) I rehearsed quite a lot for that audition; I knew it was a great opportunity for me to become an international model. So I had to study hard, and it paid off. I got the part.
Jay-Donell, please give us an example of a time when you were able to persuade someone to see things your way at work successfully.
That was during a photo shoot, sometimes you just see the photograph in your head, and you see that a certain prop might fit in the scene the photographer is trying to catch. And I suggested it to the photographer, we tried it, and yes, it was a great asset to the photograph. So sometimes you shouldn't be afraid to make a suggestion.
Jay-Donell, please tell us about your proudest professional accomplishment as a Model. There might be many, but there is always this proudest moment that you just want to share with everyone. What is it and why?
My proudest accomplishment as a model was doing the catwalk show for GarciaJeans; it was a great experience to be able to show such great clothes and being able to work with their catwalk coach. I loved doing that show!
Jay-Donell, please give us an example of a time you were able to be creative with your work. What was exciting or difficult about it?
I think it's important always to bring your creativity to work when you're a model. This ensures that you bring something new to the table every time you do a shoot.
What advice would you give to the people who want to be successful as a Model?
Have fun! Whatever you do, make sure you have fun in what you do. And don't be afraid to pick the brain of the very creative and talented people you are working with. You will be surprised when you find out what kind of cool ideas can be stuck in someone's brain when you challenge them.
Are you looking for collaboration with fashion talents, brands and creatives? If yes, please state what type of collaboration you are looking for?
I would love to work with a sports-brand like Nike or Adidas, I am a very sporty kid myself, and I think it's very important for kids to be involved in a sport. It's very good for your health, and a lot of lifelong friendships are made on the sports field.
