I'm a plus size designer with a plus size friendly brand. I'm the voice in the fashion industry that will bring light and a Big Bang to the swimwear industry.
Jasmine, what are your passion and aspiration in life? How did you start as a Designer?
My passions and aspirations are to be the best, Be an inspiration to someone else, to provide for the market that that is silenced, yet the average size within the fashion market. I started as a designer with the spark of interest in the sixth grade. ONE teacher made a, and it was history being written ever since.
Who is your inspiration in life Jasmine? How do you keep inspired?
I keep inspired by images, experience, and a free mind. You have to take a breath of fresh air to allow the brain to give you something new. My inspirations are Willy Wonka, Gabrielle Coco Chanel and my family.
We all make mistakes Jasmine; we wish we could take back. Please tell us about time being a Designer; you wish you’d handled a situation differently with a colleague.
The basic beginning mistakes in opening your own business, listening to others ideas( sell this, make this, etc.), and financial mistakes. I wish I would've been smarter, but it all comes with the process of learning to be a better leader and CRO of your business.
Jasmine, when you’re working with a large number of clients, it’s tricky to deliver excellent service to them all. As a Designer, how do you go about prioritising your clients’ needs?
I'm a scheduled, organised planner. I schedule. I need time stamps and deadlines. When does each client need a certain design and go from there? Sometimes inspirations leap out at me, and I can work on one client's piece, but it will be done by the time needed, if not before.
Please tell us, Jasmine, about a time you had to be very strategic in order to meet all your top priorities as a Designer?
In preparing for my NYFW show, I had maybe a month to create 8-10 swimsuits to show, and I had to communicate with my manufacturer. Creating the complex designs that I do, it was a bit of a time crunch, but it was none the less conquered. Had to be strategic with choosing the correct manufacturer, thinking what colors and possible prints to use, and being very fine with time management.
Jasmine, please give us an example of a time when you were able to persuade someone to see things your way to work successfully.
When conversing with the manufacturer, we have discussions about possible alterations to a suit. In speaking my vision using my words to break down my vision, I'm able to persuade the visions to the manufacturer to directing the photo shoot with the photographer as the creative director on set to showing clients.
Jasmine, please tell us about your proudest professional accomplishment as a Designer. There might be many, but there is always this proudest moment that you want to share with everyone. What is it and why?
In debuting my swimwear line this year, my proudest moment was attending NYFW for Small Boutique Fashion Week season 12. To even be involved with NYFW is great for a designer, one of the biggest elements of the fashion industry, possible publicity, clientele growth and getting your brand noticed on many levels.
Jasmine, please give us an example of a time you were able to be creative with your work. What was exciting or difficult about it?
This new addition to my introduction collection is allowing me to be more creative. To give more of a taste of the brand and swimwear talents I have. I can't give away too much information without spoiling things, but incorporating many other elements, I'm able to allow more creativity to come through without being in a crunch for time.
What advice would you give to the people who want to be successful as a Designer?
Study, research, find a mentor, and sketch everyday!
Are you looking for collaboration with fashion talents, brands and creatives? If yes, please state what type of collaboration you are looking for?
I would love collaborations with celebrity clients, also other designers and photographers. I love to embrace others artistry and push towards showcasing art at its finest. Especially with the same message and values.
