I think the thing that's unique about me is that I will try anything once. I'm not afraid to get dirty or do the unexpected. The only way to conqueror you fear to do them!
Ja'Quoia, what are your passion and aspiration in life? How did you start as a Model?
My passion is to model. What got me started was watching was Tyra Banks and America's Next Top Model. I dreamed of being on the show and walking the catwalks of the world. I aspire to model and one day hopes to take modelling into the fashion industry and become a designer.
Who is your inspiration in life Ja'Quoia? How do you keep inspired?
My inspiration in life is my mom. She showed me to always go after my dreams and never to give up. She's been there from every audition, the travelling, the shoots, and financially. She's my number one supporter. Her talks help me get through the tough times. She's always there, and as I watch her accomplish her goals, I go after mine as well.
We all make mistakes Ja'Quoia; we wish we could take back. Please tell us about time being a Model; you wish you’d handled a situation differently with a colleague.
There was one shoot I was getting booked for, but I had a family emergency come up, and I was not able to tell the photographer that wasn't going to make it. I wish I would've just given him a call to let him know what was going on. It made me look unprofessional, and I did not like that.
Ja'Quoia, when you’re working with a large number of clients, it’s tricky to deliver excellent service to them all. As a Model, how do you go about prioritising your clients’ needs?
I create a calendar/schedule with each client, the time, and needs. Based on the dates, I begin to prepare for each client a month in advance. I change up my diet, add extra workouts, as well as practice in the mirror.
Please tell us Ja'Quoia, about a time you had to be very strategic to meet all your top priorities as a Model?
For one of my shoots, we were outside near a river for a swimsuit shoot. I decided to walk into the river and pose on the rocks. Closer to land, I climbed between two trees and began to pose there as well.
Ja'Quoia, please give us an example of a time when you were able to persuade someone to see things your way at work successfully.
The one time I could say I successfully persuaded someone was the last shoot I did. I wanted to go for a wet t-shirt look, but the photographer explained that the lens of his camera might fog up. I jumped in the water and began to pose. Once he started seeing the looks and poses, he immediately loved them!
Ja'Quoia, please tell us about your proudest professional accomplishment as a Model. There might be many, but there is always this proudest moment that you want to share with everyone. What is it and why?
My proudest moment was when I was shooting indoors, and I was too nervous to pose. I gave myself a pep talk and was able to pose like none other! That shoot was some of my earlier work, but it is my proudest moment because I was able to leave my comfort zone and produce some great shots.
Ja'Quoia, please give us an example of a time you were able to be creative with your work. What was exciting or difficult about it?
A time I was able to be creative with my work was when I was shooting by an abandoned building with graffiti artwork on it. I didn't think that the shots would look nice because of the location, but once I got into my zone, I was able to lean on the wall, sit in a chair, as well as some other things.
What advice would you give to the people who want to be successful as a Model?
My number one piece of advice I give to people is never giving up. There will be times in life when it seems like achieving your dreams is impossible, but it is not. You have to fail to succeed. If you stop now, what was all of your hard work for? Chase your dreams, it is never too late.
Are you looking for collaboration with fashion talents, brands and creatives? If yes, please state what type of collaboration you are looking for?
Yes, I would love to collaborate with other people. I am open to anything. High fashion, sports, runway, print, as well as paint/art.
